Are you going dressed up?

"And since Halloween is basically right around the corner from that date, attendees are encouraged to come dressed up in costume, with the best ensembles winning CDs and T-shirts. The Halloween attire is actually being encouraged through out the whole tour. Why?

"Part of being a young Jewish kid to me was directing all of your excitement that should've been for Christmas towards Halloween. I was obsessed with Halloween as a kid, I waited for it impatiently, lamented it when it was over," explains Jeremy Greenspan, one-half of Junior Boys. "When it came about that we would be touring around the release of our single called 'Bits and Pieces' during October, all sorts of Halloween fantasies started churning up in my mind. So although we couldn't quite afford full on GWAR-style theatrics, we are hoping that people come to the shows in a Halloween kinda mindset (and attire), and help us ring in Samhain all month long."

How big of a venue was it?

It wasn't that big at all. It was in the back corner of a strip mall-like building beside like a video store, if that's any indication. I can't really tell how many people it can take at max capacity but my guess would be somwhere around 500. My estimate for crowd numbers is somewhere around 150 people, give or take.

There were still lots of places to sit and stand towards the back, no lines at the bar, and a lot of empty floor space with all the dancing kids piled in front of the stage.

Junior Boys will release their new album It's All True the week of June 14 around the world, with a UK release coming June 20, via Domino.

The group's own Jeremy Greenspan and Matthew Didemus produced and mixed the record, which they recorded in Shanghai, Berlin, and Ontario; Bob Weston of Shellac and Mission of Burma mastered the album.

Before the album drops, the group will release a 12" single of the nine-minute track "Banana Ripple" featuring remixes by the Field and disco edit pioneer Tom Moulton.

The group will tour North America and Europe later this year, starting things off in Canada in June. They'll announce dates soon.

It gives us great pleasure to announce the first single from the forthcoming Junior Boys album 'It's All True' out on Domino Records June 14th (US) & July 4th (UK/EU).

The track is called "Banana Ripple" and in its 9+ minutes of dance hit glory, Junior Boys bask in a multitude of cultural, geographic, and gastronomic touchstones: namely Orson Welles, Howard Hughes, China, in particular Shanghai, Japan (the band, not the country) Banana Ripple ice cream, Carl Craig and analogue synths.
