Taylor Hicks's singing is not music to Justin Timberlake's ears.

"People think he looks so normal and he's so sweet and he's so earnest, but he can't carry a tune in a bucket," Timberlake tells Fashion Rocks magazine about the American Idol winner.

On Hicks's potential career longevity, Timberlake says, "If he has any skeletons whatsoever – if, God forbid, he's gay – and all these people in Mississippi who voted for him are like 'Oh, my God, I voted for a queer!' It's just too much pressure."

Timberlake also took a crack at American Idol, telling the magazine, "I despise it, and yet I'm completely fascinated."

Timberlake's publicist, Ken Sunshine, tells the Washington Post, "These comments are taken completely out of context." Although Timberlake and Hicks have never met, Sunshine says, Timberlake "only wishes him well. He has great affection for anybody that puts himself out there the way he did."

Speaking to MTV, Timberlake – whose second solo album, FutureSex/LoveSounds, is due Sept. 12 – also talks about two other pop stars: His ex-girlfriend Britney Spears and his former 'N Sync bandmate Lance Bass, who last month came out on the cover of PEOPLE.

"I think Lance is one of the greatest people I know, and I'm just happy that he had self-acceptance over this because I'm sure it's hard," he says. "The guy grew up in the Bible Belt, you know, so just as his friend, you want that for him. You want him to be okay and live his life."

Of Spears, he says, "I get approached a lot in print interviews about her. It's such a part of my life that was so long ago to me that I prefer not to talk about it anymore because it's giving it too much weight. … It's always misconstrued. But the truth of the matter is, I really do wish her well, and I do want to see her win."

I agree with everything Justin stated!!

But what is with the gay comments???

I have never heard taylor hicks sing-is he any good? i don't know what it is about justin but i like him. never bought a cd of his but he seems like a good guy.and he's good looking in a different kinda way that i really like. perfect looking guys are so boring.

At least Hicks doesn't need the help of a studio to get his voice working.

I'm no fan of Taylor but personally, I don't think that it would win you more fans by trashing another artist. Let the music speaks for itself. There's someone for everyone.

Coming from Timberlake (who sounds like a pre-pubescent 13 year old girl) I'd take that as a compliment if I were Taylor. Frankly, this shows that Timberlake is either a lowbrow creep for saying this type of crap in public, or he's looking to drum up some publicity. Whatever the reason, I used to just dislike his singing. Now I dislike him as a person.

And as far as Taylor Hicks' singing ability. Well, his singing is not my cup of tea exactly, but I do recognize the man has talent. If you like Michael McDonald you'll certainly like Taylor Hicks as they have very simlilar sounds. He's obviously got a great deal more class than Timberlake. I haven't heard any hateful comments from Hicks lately.

WHAT is Justin's problem?! I do believe, as "Snickers52", that Justin is probably trying to drum up some publicity for himself. Knocking Taylor and mocking the gay community for supporting different artisits in the music industry is not a classy thing to do. [-X No one knows if a large group of gay people in any of the 50 states voted for any of the Idol contestants; and if so, SO WHAT?!

I agree with Justin completely. I have no idea whatsoever what it is that the voting public saw or heard in Taylor Hicks. IMO, he was the disappointing end product of a fairly solid AI sesaon.

And JT's first album was pretty solid for a pop album. I don't know where the Justin sucks stuff is coming from. He's slightly above average at the very least. Of course I'll get Justin's publicist to retract that statement if his next album sucks.

It's always funny when ignorant, nitwit celebrities have the balls to make asses of themselves, but they have to have their publicists to the dirty work of making up for their stupid comments.

but they have to have their publicists to the dirty work of making up for their stupid comments.

That it is part of what they're paid for isn't it?

Well they have to let someone spin what they said....or retract the recent statement. Everyone knows that he meant every word that was stated.....and its exactly how he truly felt.

I think no one will buy what the publicist states. Most of the public knows they are just there to save the celebs ass. And if they can't.....JT will find a replacement.

I just wish he had the balls to stand up for what he said.....I'm sure most of the people agree with him :D

JT wasn't even the best singer of NSYNC until "Celebrity" came and he was milked on all the vocals. I personally think that he should not say anything about Hicks or whoever from AI because he does not have natural vocals to have him sing every brand good. He has to be guided or back-masked a lot on his recordings to be good. Don't get me wrong, I loved "Justified" but I felt it was mainly the producers that helped him achieve that success.

Taylor would make a good album, probably not a pop-radio friendly album that weighs more on natural talent.

Justin will use his producers to help him more than anything. I can tell you the producers of everyone of his solo singles but not on NSYNC. I think his albums will be good, but heavily relied on the producers.

Well Justin's music is OK, but his vocal sounds like a duck. Well actually, if a pop singer looks very perfect, then his or her singing skill must sucks, like Britney and Justin, while, Britney never comments about other singers that way.

Justin doesn't have any room to be talking trash about who can and can't sing, especially after releasing the steaming pile that "SexyBack" is.
