While most of people here use some sort of Windows,

I CALL US, LINUX/UNIX USERS TO UNITE!

What Linux/Unix distro do you use? And why?

I personally use on my notebook Ubuntu 10.10, but on the desktop I use Linux Mint 9 and before that I used Mepis Linux and Arch for almost year each.

I've got two *nix boxes running: solaris/sunos and centos

Ubuntu 11.4... I think... forgot what the newest one is, I just downloaded it. I just love the interface on ubuntu... pure awesomeness!

My older computer that I use just off and on I use ubuntu 9.something running from a usb stick. I tried puppy linux on it but my computer didn't agree with it and it would keep giving me errors and crashes.

I do have to use windows often though... a few of my courses are not open source friendly.. at all. ](*,)

Servers: CentOS and RedHat
Laptop: Fedora

I do web development, it's just nice to develop on the same OS your app will run on (CentOS and Fedora both descend from Red Hat).

I used to have a netbook with Ubuntu but smoke started coming out of the fan vent sooo.... :D

servers debian, desktop ubuntu (yeah, i have become lazy)

I used to run Ubuntu 10.10 but I have since switched back to Windows 7. I play a lot of games and use a lot of software that runs best on Windows (FL Studio 9 XXL w/ REFX Nexus 2, Corel Photo X2, Microsoft ICE, etc).

I really did try to make Ubuntu work though (even got FL Studio AND nexus to work) but it just got too annoying and frustrating. The simplest of tasks turned into all nighters and often rendered no results.

That's not to say Windows 7 doesn't have its problems. I finished the install and immediately did an update, which promptly crashed the system and gave me an aneurism.

plus with ubuntu tweak you can change the login image

Are you using the new "Unity" interface on 11.4, or did you roll it back to Gnome?

If you are using Unity, what do you like (and not like) about it?

If you are using Gnome, do you plan to upgrade to 11.10 when it becomes available (11.10 reportedly will force Unity without the option of Gnome)? Or will you stick with 11.4, or possibly switch to Mint Linux?
