A few months ago, as a result of an accident, my favourite 'thistle glass' for drinking Scotch fell and shattered and my partner felt so bad about dropping it, that suddenly a new one arrives but it is cut crystal and apparently worth 250 pounds and the one that broke was worth about $2.50 canadian and I am both delighted and terrified to use the new one.

Has anyone just flummoxed you with an OTT make-up?

Go for it baby! You can't take it with you when you go. And raise your pinky finger when you sip. :)

I just love little things like that. My partner is always good at doing those little things. He stops at the bakery on his way home and buys my favorite cream cake for example or he will bring me flowers for no reason at all.

I've shared it before, but when I was at college, I came home near my birthday, probably my sophomore or junior year.

Grandmother wanted me to go down to Silliman's to look at a console piano they had for sale. It was a couple of thousand dollars. At the time, she couldn't afford to buy a car at that price, but I knew she was trying to be supportive of me while I was yet a Music Education major, albeit in voice. It would have taken several years for her to pay it off.

As beautiful as it was, I couldn't. I went and picked out a set of green bake-lite (looking) dominos at the Hallmark gift store in town. I'm not that fond of playing dominos, but it they were cool, and green, and now remind me of the sacrifice she was prepared to make for me. That was more than 40 years ago.

When I shuffle off this coil, I think I shall take them with me.
