So my boyfriend who goes to college where I live just went home for the summer. The first few days were all right but now that 2 weks have gone by it's getting kind of difficult. We text, talk on the phone every night, and skype every few days. Any other suggestions on how to deal with it and keep both of us sane? Thanks in advance!

Are you planning to make any trips to see each other over the summer? Having something to look forward to can help you get through to fall semester.

Also, what is it you are finding to be difficult? Is it the loneliness of not having someone? Being horny and tempted? Thinking he is horny and tempted by other boys?

I'm in the situation, been with my boyfriend for three years coming on four years. I have gone about a month or two without seeing him. I do the same thing text him, call him, talk to him on Skype. By now I'm use to it.

It might not work with you or anyone else but what I usually do is keep myself busy. It can be difficult but two weeks is really nothing when it comes to being apart from your boyfriend, sometimes it can be worse if he stays apart from you longer.

The above poster is right, making a trip to see him can help, it does make things better when you have something to look forward to in the future.

Thanks for the help. He's not out to his family so a trip is out of the question. And the bigger issue is that I leave for college this fall on the opposite side of the country so this distance is going to become a pretty long term thing.

Manly the loneliness and horniness is what's making it difficult, I'm not worried about either getting tempted. It's just a frustrating situation, but thank you for the suggestions and help! :)

So if you're planning to move across the country, why are you guys trying to maintain a relationship? It sounds like both of your lives are moving in different directions, so what is keeping you together?

Unless one of you is willing to make a major change, the prospects for the future aren't good.

People change. They grow apart. It's difficult even for people who live together or see each other often to maintain a relationship. In your situation, unless one of you is willing to change your plans to be together, you may want to consider going your separate ways for the time being.

I've been in a long distance relationship for about two years. The only reason it continues to work is that we make a point of seeing one another every month. The longest we've gone was about two months and it was really difficult. Also, we do plan to live in the same city within the next year or so.
