JJ Abrams has confirmed that Lost will end in 2010. There will be three more shorter seasons totalling 48 episodes and then that'll be it.

they're stupid for making it in shorter seasons. THey should just do two regular seasons.

This season may have started very dull, but the past few episodes have been great!

This is good news. So now we know. I'll be 31 when it finishes! argh!

Given how much has been answered (partially or fully) this season, I was thinking that season 4 would be the last. Will be interesting how they end this season, and what sort of cliffhanger we get (probably a brilliant head-fucking one!).

Lost is one of those programmes you wish you hadn't started watching but now you have you need to carry on otherwise the last 3 years will have been a waste of time.

Also, it might - just might start making sense.

I love Lost you cynical people. There isn't another show like it.

I'm glad the writers and tv execs have been able to agree on a compromising timeline. It'll give the writers artistic liberty to end the show at its natural conclusion.

The people who are utterly baffled by the show and who are forever going on about "it doesnt explain anything" are just stupid. Its actually explained a LOT of things, except the one main mystery (about what the island is).

They've explained the hatch, the polar bears, the dharma project, WHY the plane crashed, and we're now even getting flashbacks about the 'others'.

We know they're not dead, its not a reality TV show, its not hell/purgatory, its not the figment of someone's imagination, its not a snow globe...

from what I hear, the season 3 finale will turn everything upside down. It's titled "Through the Looking Glass". No doubt an attempt to make sure fans will WANT to tune back in next February for season 4.

At first I was excited about the episode. Now I'm not sure I like the direction the show is taking. ONCE again, just like LAST year, the LOST crew are going to war with the OTHERS. Been there, done that. Plus, up until now we were led to believe that the OTHERS were good guys with mysterious motives. I did not like Ben's flashback history. It seems to go against everything else we know about him.

At first, I wondered why J.J.Abrams just won't end the show in the forth season, but maybe he wanted to have enough time to give "Lost" a more proper end than that of "Alias".

As most of you know that the finale of "Alias" is a little too much off the original storyline.
