Many people nowadays are going for Low Carb diet for short term results. Usually for a Wedding or party or etc. This is not a lasting & Fit lifestyle.Just in case we need that quck fix, some recipes ideas would really be helpful. (Now, I'm not talking or discussing about low-carb diet here. But you're most welcome to start a new thread about Low Carb Diet. This is a thread on Low-Carb Recipes. Not diet. Thank You.(*8*) )

I was messing around with some stuffs in my chiller just now to get a quick late night snack. And a recipe was created.

Tuna Mayo Roll.

Get some/ Make some spreadable Tuna Mayo with Capsicum, Celery & Onion.
Get a few slices of Cheddar Cheese.(I use Kraft Singles)

Spread some tuna on one slice of cheese. Roll and serve. Yum.

I just over 30lbs by working out and eating right but the 1st thing I did was give up carbs. I never tried that before and I use to be a work out fanatic! But I still ate carbs back than. It's been four months and I feel so much better now that I gave up the big time carbs(White bread, pasta.pizza, french fries, white rice) I didn't realise how tired carbs were making me or how they go right to your belly. They really slowed me down. There are so many alternatives now with whole grains that it's a much better choice. But I also gave up cheese so I couldn't eat the tuna roll. But there is a ton of great asian wraps filled with veggis and shrimp. The rolls have that really thin paper like wrap. Love those! just read this isn't a thread about low carb diet but isn't low carb recipes part of a low carb diet?

Hey buddy, well i have been following a low carb diet for what seems like forever!! ONLY becoz it works so well for me, and i prefer to eat this way , feel less bloated and have alot more get up and go!

My favourite thing to eat is egg white!! i know sounds sad! , but they are full of protein and no carbs!! and are cool with just about anything,

I eat them with ham and alittle chilli sauce which is great!

Most of the time you can eat alot, just check with label , and if there is added sugar is normally BAD! , oats are a good carb so these are generally good but again NO SUGAR!

It does work !! good luck !!!! :O)

This is kinda decadent.

Chicken Cutlets

-pack of chicken cutlets
-grated parmesean cheese
-milk
-eggs
-pepper and hot sauce(for a kick)

Ok just like you would bread chicken but instead of using bread crumbs you use cheese. Then cook it in olive oil. It is more of a treat because it is a fried food after all. But it is a way I can have a comfort food.

In regards to low carb comments above. I feel that everything in moderations is good. But you step back and look how much sugar americans consume. Is bread bad? No! You just don't over indulge and try to have whole grained and less processed foods. Sugar is very addicting like a drug, it afterall makes you happy.

Cutting carbs really isn't the solution to slimming down. Eating a balanced and appropriate serving of carbohydrates is how it's done along with other food groups and regular exercise.

I can't think of any low carb recipies I have, but I've certainly never needed them.

I use to agree with that but having cut out carbs really works for slimming down. And you don't need low carb recipes cause you are 20. Wait till you get older and your whole metabolism changes! Right now you may just be lucky but age is a factor.

Yeah, but it doesn't promote an idea of consistancy. If you cut carbs, you can't ever really eat them again at any higher amount or you're going to gain weight.

My metabolism isn't great, I've been chucnky all my life, but I just found that when I did regular exercise to keep my metabolism up and ate proportionately, I slimmed down.

Cutting carbs to shed pounds only means that when you incorporate them again, you'll gain it back, so it doesn't seem like a solution to me.

Ok, since you've asked for it even though I've warned ya. Here goes.

Low Carb Diet can be from consuming 20g carbs a day to consuming 30/40/30 of carb/protein/fat. Personally, I wouldn't go for Atkins Diet for like ever. Our body needs carbs to function. That's why the traditional food pyramid recomends us to consume most of our calories from carbs. But lifestyle and genes or in certain cases Blood Type play major roles in determining our needs for Carbs. The definition of Low Carb diet can be from low sugar diet to no Carbohydrate containing food at all.

Q.Since our body needs carbs, the real question here is what kind of carbs? A.Complex Carbohyrates.

Q.Why?
A.Most of them like Wholemeal Bread, Wholemeal Cereal, Weetbix, Rye Bread, Wholemeal Pasta have nutrients intact particularly B Vitamins. They also contain Fibre. B Vitamins are responsible to help our body to metabolize the food we eat.

Q.What happens when there's no B vitamins intact with the carbs that we consume?
A.Obviously our body can't enjoy the benefits of B Vitamins. Which generally means metabolizing the food we eat.

Q.So, what's up with fibre?
A. Fibre helps in regulating blood sugar due to its unique nature. It is great when consumed with carbohydrate containing food since your body won't absorb the sugar from the carb food and use it immediately even if you don't need.Slow release of sugar into the blood will regulate your blood sugar levels.

Q.But if its going to slow down the absorbtion of sugar into our blood, should Atheletes consume Whole Grain Products after exercise?
A. Depends on their goals. Some Atheletes need the carbs in large quantity in one time especially after an intense training to replenish loss glucose in their muscle. That's why many of them choose Dextrose & Whey Protein which is one of the Simplest Carbohydrate which absorbs into the body almost immediately. Natural Atheletes may prefer White Bread with Egg White/ Turkey Breast as post workout replenishments.

Q.So, whats the best solution for Low Carb Diet?
A.Moderation & Choosing The Right Food is the key.

Ok, next Low Carb Recipe:

Gravlax Canapes.

1.Get some Toasted Rye Bread(Cut into rounds)

2.Abit of mayo spead over them.

3.Top with abit of your favourite fresh Lettuce.

4.Top them with Thinly sliced Gravlax and garnish with Capers & Dill.

Good for Family or friends get together. Hotel Food in the comfort of your home.

At first I cut the carbs as a diet but I don't think I will return to carbs. You can get everything in whole wheat or multigrain now, even pasta. But carbs really made me so tired I couldn't function. I just don't think my body is made to take in large amounts of carbs like white bread and pasta. I would never do atkins. I really just eat very healthy and make sure I drink a lot of water. nothing wrong with that. I'm not on any diet at all now but I am being smart about what I take in. Sorry didn't mean to hyjack the thread please continue on with the recipes:wave:

I still eat white pasta and rice (Chinese), but I've just stopped eating white bread and incorporated brown rice and wheat breads and pastas because they're more nutritious.

Isn't it supposed to make your breath smell? I heard it gives you that sickly sweet aroma of decay....

That's only if you go into ketosis for a long period of time.

I personally don't believe in "diets" and I don't believe in restricting or eliminating one certain food group. I believe in balance, not deprivation.

Carbs don't make you fat. Excess calories make you fat.

Period.

However, everyone is different and some find they do better on low carbohydrate diets (although you should never completely eliminate them) which is understandable because a diet super-high in carbs can shoot your blood sugar through the roof. I'm hypoglycemic and have to watch how much carbohydrate I take in, especially in one sitting, because it screws with my sugar too much if I overload.

That and diabetics need to watch their carbs as well. Many foods, like white bread, white flour, white rice, etc, can cause horrendous spikes in blood sugar and diabetics, especially, have to be careful with that.

I personally don't believe cutting carbs promotes weight loss, though. Unless you're gonna do it for life, it's not realistic. Most of the initial weight lost on a low-carb diet is water. You can drop 5-7 pounds of water weight alone by eating very low-carb. The reason I say it's not "realistic" is because many people find such a diet hard to stick to. I mean, who the hell wants to go the rest of their lives without potatoes, pasta and bread? So eventually you're going to sneak that stuff back in there. And the water weight you lost will come right back. Most people who lose a bunch of weight doing low carb, once they go back to the way they were eating before (and a large percentage of them do) they put back on what they lost and then some.

I'm not saying low-carb doesn't WORK for weight loss. I'm just saying that it's not very realistic to assume you can eat this way forever. Your body NEEDS carbs. Especially if you work out regularly.

So to each his own, everything works differently for different people. But I'm going to agree with the ones in this thread that have stressed MODERATION. Balance everything. I'm careful about what I eat and how much. I make sure I get enough protein AND carbs. But I never overload on anything.
