I have heard that it is possible to transfer old vinyl LP records to CD's. Has anyone here actually done this?

Years ago I would output the audio into my computer, clean it up a bit then burn it.

I'm sure now there are all-in-one units available.

My brother has transferred most of his old albums to CD.

He claims that IF the album you are working from is in good condition, the end product is comparable to a new CD...

I have never done it but have cds that were transferred with good quality.

I helped my Cousin transfer some LPs a couple of years ago. We used the Musicmatch free player to record the transfer. What we did was use the headphone output on the phonograph and ran the cable to the mic input on the computer. It is time consuming and took alot of trial runs to get it right. Although there are filters to clean up the sound you'll get a better result downloading at Limewire. Good Luck!

^^ yeh it's a pain in the ass, but nothing beats that LP sound!

You know, the pops, the hiss. =]

I do it a lot...

or i did.

Now if I find an album that's only on vinyl, I'll do it, but for the most part, I just buy stuff on CD or iTunes.

At this rate, I might get them all burned to CD before CDs become obsolete!

um... that's already happened, buddy.

you heard of the iPod?

Tower records went out of business, and Virgin isn't far behind.

Record stores are closing down left and right and downloads are pretty much were it's all going...

Record stores, Record companies, etc, they better get on board or they ALL will be left at the station........

Changes are a-coming..........NOW!!(*8*) (*8*)

Thanks guys for the info. I just discovered a software product called "Spin It Again" by Acoustica. Has anyone used this product? Sounds like even a computer dummy [like me] can use it. For only $35 maybe I can save my big stack of LP's.

Spin It Again looks pretty good to me. I'm going to give it a try. Not bad for $35. I've been desperate to get a few of my rarer LPs onto MP3 for ages.
