Now this is where it's at!!!

I thought Daughtry, Amy Winehouse, Brandi Carlile and Norah Jones were shoe-ins for Grammy nominations come December but I think everybody's just been eclipsed by the 28-year-old Sri-Lanka critic's-darling-of-the-moment.

I'm a little late jumping on the M.I.A. bandwagon but I can't get her new CD and the mind-blowing lyrics to those songs out of my head!

This album was straight unlistenable. But she probably will get love from the Grammy commitee for being "outside the box". But theres a difference between outside the box and just putting noise on a record.

@ I_Just_Wanna_Be: Excuse me, M.I.A. is great. theres a reason ppl like Timba wanted a collab w/her. And u have to understand what unique sounds are vs noise. For example, u wanna know a type of music that sucks? Rock and Rap are disgusting! Especially rock cuz ppl just cream like maniacs. As for Rap they degrade every possible human beings actions SO dont bash on M.I.A., take a look @ what ever is on ur ipod first its about taste.

IndianStud, you realize that M.I.A. uses a lot of hip-hop/rap elements in her music, right? she produces hip-hop beats. that's why she wanted to work with Timbaland, because he makes hip-hop/rap beats as well. and she raps.

I officially nominate MIA for the Lexington "Everybody Thinks This Is Genius Except For Me" award.

Where is my mind?

I always thought she was very talented. I gave her credit for being able to mesh dance music with lyrical content... Arular was a great album, I haven't heard Kala yet though.

It's just "Jefferson Airplane". Then "Jefferson Starship" in the 70s and early 80s and just "Starship" starting with "We Built This City".

Lesson over.

M.I.A. is just an incredible artist. She's putting something out there that nobody else is coming close too.
Arular was amazing - it was light-years beyond some of the pop and hip-hop acts coming out the US and the UK. Kala has just built on that - songs like Bird Flu and Boyz are just really refreshing to hear

I'm a really big fan of her :)

I like M.I.A. I didn't like her first album, but I LOVE this new one. Its different than the usual shit you here nowadays. And she gives off a worldly vibe that I like.

Say what you want about her, but she's better than Britney, Beyonce, Rhianna and the rest of those girls.

Hiya! I know a little bit about her, I've seen two vids on TV and if I'm thinking of the right gal she has a newish song out which is called J.I.M.M.Y and I love it, it's catchy actually I've gotta download that onto my iPod! She's not really my thing I'll check her out though and then decide, this songs kicks ass though! :D

What category is she nominated for?

I like Kala, but I loved Arular. I really like "Jimmy" though. Very Bollywood-esque.

I tried to give the new album another chance and I just can't listen to it. It's like she was sitting in the studio thinking, hmmm, how can I be different....I know, Ill rap a bunch of things that dont make sense over didgeridoo beats that are for the most part off beat.
