has anyone seen the commercials for the happening? What a stupid and desperate way to market a movie lol like i wont go see a movie unless its rated r. if there trying to use that to make it sound good then it must be no good.

Re: m night shyamalan in his first rated r movie!!

I haven't seen those commercials. That's pretty lame though.

It looks too much like The Village. And Lady in the Water. And Signs. And...well, every other movie he's made.

Re: m night shyamalan in his first rated r movie!!

I actually think the movie looks like it may be really good. I saw the trailer at the theater and it was really creepy. Shyamalan's track record is respectable, so I think this movie is in good hands. And it has Matt Damon and John Leguizamo as added bonuses.

Re: m night shyamalan in his first rated r movie!!

Apart of me wants to see it but I have a feeling that its going to have a stupid ending that he thought was so clever.#-o

Re: m night shyamalan in his first rated r movie!!

He's marketing it as a horror movie. R rated horror movies typically do better than PG-13 ones.

Also, Matt Damon's not in this movie. That's Mark Wahlberg, for some inexplicable reason.

And Shaymalan's track record is far from respectable. He's got The Sixth Sense and Signs. The rest have been crap. The Village, with several of the copies issued to movie theatres still with the boom mikes dropping in from the top of the screen every few shots? Lady in the Water, which made next to no sense and which nobody actually saw? Unbreakable? And as for his writing, dude is responsible for that Stuart Little monstrosity.

i think it looks creepy...i go see all his movies anyways.

i actually really liked the Village, and Unbreakable.

Lady In the Water sucked monster ass..tho

Thats exactly what I thought. Its so pathetic.

Re: m night shyamalan in his first rated r movie!!

The trailer makes me want to see the Happening. But most of his movies have been pretty bad since Sixth Sense. Unbreakable was way short and was just average. Signs was okay. The Village was very disappointing. And I couldn't even finish watching the Lady in the Water, because it was so boring. Let's hope he recovers with this one.

Re: m night shyamalan in his first rated r movie!!

.....Uh huh?

Water? Oh NOES! WE CAN'T BE NEAR WATER IT KILLS US!
yeah, cause you know there's HOW much water in our atmosphere?

The Village? Seriously? No fly zone, never heard anything... COME ON!!!
Those movies are insults to human intelligence.
LAdy in the water? sucked ass.
Unbreakable, was Mediocre at best.
If you really think about it, The Sixth Sense, was Okay, but that 'twist' ending, came from a mile away.

I've shit better twists than the ones in his movies.

You're 100% correct. :-)

There's no way I'm seeing another movie of his in theatres. Not with his track record of interesting looking movies turning out to be shit.

Re: m night shyamalan in his first rated r movie!!

Has it always been rated R or is this a recent thing because I don't think I ever noticed. And doesn't that mean it'll be less successful since R movies generally don't make as much as anything else?

R-rated movies in general? I don't know. But r-rated HORROR movies tend to do better than the PG-13 variety, because a PG-13 horror movie tends to end up being some weak shit like Dark Water. All the little tweenies go, pretend to get scared so they can jump each others bones, and then it's over after opening night. R-rated ones are more likely to attract an adult audience, who are going to watch a movie and maybe get scared, not to let their hormones air out.
