I assume before he was compensating for his hard-to-believe straightness and butch it up. Most men, when in a comfortable environment, do tend to swish about as they utilize learned behavior from both sexes. IAmong my friends, I've had quite a few flamboyant straight guys who were believed to be gay when in fact I was the queer one of the group... and people still don't see it. As for Malachi, good for him for getting past that and just be in the moment.
