Maybe it's the opposite for gay boys. All of my favorite teachers were women and when it came to the quality of my learning, I never noticed a difference between my male and female teachers.

I think the main reason boys do badly is because it's not considered manly to be good in school. Probably they think if you study a lot, you must be gay.

I don't know about same sex teachers, but I'm convinced students do better in same sex classrooms. Fewer distractions and less incentive to show off.

I have to agree. Every teacher I remember fondly was female, except for one male teacher my senior year of high school. Perhaps I'm a lesbian too?

I liked most of my male and female teachers, with the exception of my math (male) and creative writing teacher (female).

In college, I prefer the male instructors much more interesting and find their teaching methods to be more effective. The male instructors would often point out the most important things, whereas the female instructors would just plow through the material without much emphasis on anything.

I hope male students do better with their male teachers since I'm a teacher now.

I think I did equally well no matter what sex the teacher was.

I did, however, adore my Physics teacher. He was 28 at the time and oh, so cute.

Thinking back, I felt intimidated by the male teachers I was attracted to. There weren't many, but I had a gym teacher and a few others who I felt really uncomfortable around. It didn't affect my school work, just how I acted around the teachers.

All my other male teachers were old and/or unattractive, so it made no difference.

Would gay boys do better in an all-boy environment or a gay boy + straight girl environment?

Would lesbians do better with boys?

Or would the groups compete harder to see which was better?

I always liked and did better for female teachers.

I had some really doozies of male teachers.

Had mostly really terrible male teachers (7th & 9th grade Social Studies, 8th? grade English (cute but an asshole), 9th grade Spanish), some mediocre (11th grade Physics, 12th grade AP Biology, 10th grade biology), but some pretty good ones (10th grade Social Studies, 11th grade trigonometry).

My really memorable teachers were all women, but then 80+% of them were women, so it's hard to say.

In my experience as a teacher... this was true. It was an all boys school and it seemed like the students just related better to the guys than the girls. Totally anecdotal though.

I disagree, I don't like male teachers, I have a thing where I don't like men telling what or how to do something.
