Burnouts Are For Kids
There’s a man in the street with his head hanging down
He’s been walking for miles just to get across town
And he’s braving the rain, though on his shoulders it pounds
He sidesteps the puddles that fill dips in the ground
His face is unsettled, his lips form a frown
Even though he’s on land, he feels he might drown
But he keeps trudging on to the place where he’s bound
He won’t stop to dry off and he won’t fool around
Because making his goal is what it’s all about
He doesn’t even hear the man behind shout
And all of a sudden, he’s turned inside out
The jumble around him is all just too loud
He looks up to see a gathering crowd
As his eyes darken, he hears a faint sound
Instead of his target, an angel he’s found
And he wishes to God that he’d driven across town
