In the back story to "Stage Struck" Mason appeared. What follows is the story of Nathan's ill fated association with him....

Growing up in a small rural town, Mason had what might be described as an idyllic childhood. He did well at grade school and soon became one of the most popular students in high school. He excelled at games and became part of the drama group.

Girls pursued him, and although flattered by their attention, disappointed each and every one by dating none of them. A couple of his fellow male students also pursued him. He enjoyed their flattery too and found mutual gratification in sexual dalliances with guys in obscure locations on campus and elsewhere, away from prying eyes. Mason had no doubts about his same-sex attraction but was careful not to flaunt it. He recognised that if he were to have a successful acting career he needed to appear attainable to a female audience.

It was shortly after his twenty-first birthday that he went for an audition for a stage production of ‘Romeo and Juliet.’ It proved a resounding success and the new young man making his professional debut in the lead role was centre of attraction.

At the drinks party after the final performance of the play, Mason spotted a handsome looking man of some forty or so years chatting to Kurt, the play’s director. Seeing Mason entering the room, Kurt called him over saying, ‘Mason, I would like to introduce you to a good friend of mine. This is Nathan Anders, a very influential theatrical agent.’

Nathan held out his hand and took Mason’s giving a warm and friendly shake. ‘I’m pleased to meet you, Mason,’ he said smiling. ‘I saw your performance tonight and was extremely impressed. You have a notable talent.’

‘Thank you kind, sir,’ Mason relied, blushing slightly. ‘It’s not so difficult when you are doing something that you enjoy,’ he added.

‘You don’t have an agent yet, do you?’ Kurt said to Mason. ‘I think you could do yourself a great favour by asking Nathan to take you on, as he’s the one to find you work with the best directors; so much easier than finding auditions by yourself.’ Nathan produced a business card and said, ‘Give me a call anytime and we can get together and discuss the matter.’

Taking the proffered card and briefly looking at it before placing it in his pocket, ‘Mason said, ‘Thanks, I’ll do that, it’s been nice to meet you. Meanwhile, I’d better go and join my ‘Juliet’ and the others of the cast before we all say goodbye one last time.’

It was a couple of days later when Mason rang Nathan who invited him to a working lunch the next day. Mason was eager to obtain a new part, whether it be live theatre, movie or even TV, he gladly agreed to meet Nathan. The lunch proved to be a resounding success as Nathan already had found a suitable part in a movie with a leading studio. As he was a newcomer to the film industry, the part was not a lead but a good opportunity for him to make a name for himself. It was hard to tell who was the most jubilant, Mason or Nathan, when the young actor gained an award for ‘best supporting actor’ and yet another from a foreign rival to the Oscars for ‘best newcomer.’

It was following the latter that in their excitement agent and actor exchanged their first kiss. It was an automatic reaction to the announcement of the award. Initially, it took both of them by surprise but as the kiss lingered it became so much more. It told each of them that the other was not only hungry for more but that they now both knew for certain what their gaydar had been hinting at ever since they had first met.

Mason needed no persuading to join Nathan in his car for the drive to his elaborate home. Until now, Mason had only ever met Nathan at his office and was overawed by the splendour of the classic house that Nathan had inherited from his grandfather. Ripping off their clothes as they ran up the grand staircase to the master bedroom, they threw themselves onto the bed and hungry lips kissed and explored, tongues lapping in armpits and circling nipples until Nathan’s mouth finally closed on Mason’s rod-like erection.

Mason had not been with an older man prior to this and was amazed by the firm but gentle expertise of his newfound sex partner. He had often felt the gaze of Nathan’s eyes upon him, but he was used to the stare of those who admired his boyish good looks. Those eyes were taking in every inch of his body and smooth hands were gliding over him with such intensity that he could not hold back from crying out ‘Fuck me!’; it was a demand not merely an expletive reaction. Nathan produced a condom and lube and proceeded to oblige the love-hungry ass that Mason proffered for his pleasure. All this time Nathan had been silent but now his groans of delighted pleasure filled the room as he kept a steady thrust and withdrawal causing ripples of intense satisfaction run through every nerve in Mason’s sweat-soaked body. Unable to avert a climax any longer, they both came together and collapsed panting and exhausted on the bed.

Soon after this, they had more similar sessions and eventually, Mason moved in with Nathan. He treated the splendid house as though it were his own, but Nathan, bemused by the boyish behaviour of his new partner indulged him. Lucrative work kept Mason busy, and he soon became the darling of the so-called ‘in-crowd.’ Life after work became a round of parties where drinks flowed, and inevitably other stimulants were on offer. Mason was introduced to cocaine and soon became addicted. Initially, it gave further impetus to his acting ability but as the habit grew and his dependence upon it more intense, he began to forget his lines, arrive late or not at all until the day came that no studio or theatre would employ him.

Nathan tried his best by subtle means to ease the young man off his addiction but to no avail. Mason became obstinate and aggressive spending his days lounging around the swim-pool that graced the garden of the house. On those occasions that he went out, it was in search of drug supplies. That became problematic as his lack of earnings led to dwindling savings and the inevitable debts to drug dealers.

Aware that Mason was now ‘sleeping around’ when he went in search of coke, Nathan’s patience finally ran out. An intense argument ensued resulting in Mason storming from the house and driving at break-neck speed in Nathan’s sports car. He had not travelled far when the tires hit an oil patch on the road, losing traction and Mason was suddenly aware of a large tree hurtling towards him before everything went black as he suffered a crushing blow that forced life from him.
