Anyone else having any luck battling what ever it is going around? I have endured massive
sinus draining in my nose and throat, causes you to cough like mad, now my ear canals are loaded up. It started in January so I doubt it's pollen even here in south Texas. I have been to the doctor three times and not getting better.

It's not just me, tons of people here with the same thing.

Been through heavy duty steroid pills and antibiotics, with no success. Its driving me crazy.
Please tell me someone has found a way to get rid of this!

Any sign of fever, even low grade? I had valley/desert fever without the fever so the name is somewhat of a misnomer. For valley/desert you would need an anti-fungal.

Got it in Arizona. The sinus congestion was horrible.

Sounds like what went around here last September-October...it was a bitch to get rid of. I had it for about 1 1/2 months and then it went away and came back again for another month. Petty much everyone I knew...same story. It hung on a long time..

This was in Silicon Valley...

If it's been going on since January, and you've been through steroids and antibiotics, you need to ask for a referral to an ear-nose-throat specialist.

Yes, it's a bug going around and it started back in January. Horrible. Cough, congestion and tons of mucous. I had it so bad, I ended up with a sinus infection and nosebleeds. Went to an ENT specialist who gave me antibiotics and a sinus rinse and it went away in about two weeks. So far, so good. Have not had it reappear. Wash your hands every time you go out and keep your hands away from your face. Specialist told me that. A big spreader of this "bug" is grocery store carts which are used by hundreds of hands. If your store supplies wipes to wipe off the handle of the cart...use them! Anytime you go out and come home, wash your hands! This "thing" is very contagious and it doesn't seem to matter if you've had a flu shot.

I had the flu earlier [end of January] and now I have this sinus issue. I don't feel sick at all outside of this "nasal drip" I have. I have had it for about 2 weeks now and it's just crazy. I'm sure it's the reason I have a headache but no coughing or fever thankfully.

I had a bad problem with coughing in 2012 and 2013 which went on for 2-3 months. I saw two ENTs who both pumped me up with antibiotics and prednizone and some inhaler steroid. The prednizone is what really helped me. If you're on steroid and antibiotics that are not working, maybe it's best to skip your doctor and find a specialist for a second opinion.

Have you tried the saline rinse with a neti pot or bulb? The salty water helps to kill the microbes causing the drainage. In any event, you need to see the Ear and Sinus specialist.

I was recently at an ENT, and was told that a netti pot is one of the healthiest things you can do on this front. And that has worked wonders for me!
