...Strange and after looking into this it seems a LOT of MD's aren't actually qualified to practice in California!

In Australia this is true too.
...

Hang on a minute. Are you saying that all doctors in Australia are not qualified to actually practice medicine?

If you are then you are seriously wrong.

All doctors in Australia are required to be registered with the Medical Registration Board also they are required to have a Prescriber Number so that they can write prescriptions.

So, before you start making accusations you should better check your facts.

Now on to your doctor. Did you actually contact the Medical Board of California to use their DOCTOR LOOKUP feature.

Every state in the US has a medical board so if you are that interested in finding out about a specific doctor then just use a search engine and search for the medical board of the state you are concerned about.

Every state has a licensing agency. They collect credentials and grant licenses. If your MD is practicing in California, you should be able to find that information here.

I am frankly amazed but won't turn him in since this is part of a big issue in the USA apparently. LACK of certification/qualification.

This is the part that bothers me - if you have checked with the licensing board as others have suggested and he is NOT a licensed doctor - you need to turn him in.

Because if he is not a real doctor it could be a matter of life and death for someone else...

I contacted his medical school (SUNY)

You got in touch with the correct SUNY school, right? Just making sure you know there are lots of them (SUNY Purchase, SUNY Stony Brook, etc). Pinpointing the right one can be tricky!

Why did you have a hunch about this doctor anyway? Sounds interesting

...You didn't mention the exact same thing. Read his response and yours. They are not the same.
....

They are the same link just worded differently.

But as long as you have resolved the issue.

No they are not. Please do not respond.

This thread is now CLOSED.
With all due respect, BOTH links given are the same links - and you certainly don't have the authority over who can or can't respond to your posts. You DO have the authority to offer gratitude where it's due to those who took the time to offer advice and help.
