Yes the size was due to very powerful steriods he was on. I agree that he does look worst then ever this year. (I always peek, just to see how he's looking). However I must say that an even bigger story was how AWFUL Ed McMahon looked this year, I saw him last night and he was always a "bigger man" however last night he appeared to be under 100 lbs. I feel bad watching the "old guard" waste away. Really aside from those two, there's not many of that old guard left......... off the top of my head Mel Brooks, Carl Riner, Dick Van Dyke, Andy Grifith (I think he's still alive), and lol Phylis Diller if you want to count her. But that whole age of commedy is almost gone.

The thing I loved about this years's telethon is that both Jerry and Ed McMahon have both gotten so damn old, they just don't care about pretending to like each other anymore. There were plenty of times during this telethon when I thought they were going to spit in each other's faces. Jerry got pissed at least every 10 minutes at one thing or another and wasted no opportunity in expressing his displeasure. Either the music wasn't loud enough, or Ed wasn't loud enough, or Ed wasn't moving fast enough. I really got the feeling that Jerry and Ed basically can't stand each other and the only reason Ed comes back every year is because it's just tradition and if he wasn't there it would be a major scandal.

Also, personally I found it a little creepy watching Jerry kissing his 60 year old son full on the lips not once, but twice. Once I grew up I didn't want to get anywhere near my father's lips, LOL.

they are having a telethon for MDA
why would a drug need a telethon
?

Its not a drug, MDA=Muscular Dystrophy Association, a neurological distorder that usually affects the muscular systems.

This marks the very first year that I *totally* forgot that it was even
on....

No Ed McMahon, no large novelty checks from 7-11.... I feel kind of cheated.

I can only hope Charo's 70-year old swigging breasts brought in a few hundred dollars.

"Hoochie Coochie ! I've tripped on my Poochhie !"

Ahem

Didn't see it this year.....didn't miss it.....

I'm not being mean, it's just that over the nearly 40 years it's been going strong, I used to stay up all night watching it (especially in the 1970's when I was growing up). But 40 years of promotion, and it hasn't made nearly the breakthroughs in research that have happened in medical conditions where there is no Jerry Lewis to champion the cause. God bless him for his work, and his contiued devotion to the cause. I'll still send a check, but I have no interest in the telethon anymore.....

Back to the Charo 'hoochie coochie' thing....

One of the WORST things I think I ever saw on TV was back in the...
I dunno, mid 90's of so...

She was doing the whole "I can't speaka de enlish' shtick when she
launched into to this horrid 70's disco retrospective thing swinging those
tired money makers back and forth of course. (All of this is sad, 'cause in
reality, she really is quite a good trained classical guitarist)

But anyway, in the middle of her number, she walks over to a bunch of
MS patients sitting in their wheel chairs in the front row...and actually sings
the line, "Get up and dance ! Get up and dance everybody ! ...C'mon, Don't be shy !! #-o )

Good Lord....It was awful.

All these poor people were just looking at her in stunned amazement.

All these years later, I still can't get that moment out of my head.
