me, my dad & a coffee maker.

so, i came out to my dad at the beginning of the year.
it was scary and hard, but he took it really well and was actually pretty funny.

so, i told him. and he asked "are you sure?"
i tried not to laugh and assured him.
and he asked "how do you know?"
and i tried to explain that it was just one of those things you kind of know.
i told him that i had met a guy and we were going to go on a date and he asked how far i had gone with him. i told him that i hadn't done anything with a guy at all.
and he said "well, then how do you know you won't think it's gross?"
to which i replied "i guess i don't."
then he told me he loved me and didn't really approve or get it, but he loved me.

the next day he bought me a really nice coffee maker.

so, when people ask about my coffee maker i tell them it's because i'm a bad son.

i figured some of you guys could appreciate this story.

Good story. It sounds like your dad loves you and, for some reason, thought a coffee maker would make a great peace offering. Parents are sometimes a little strange but their love is always true and strong.

Yeah, my thoughts exactly. He didn't know exactly how to respond (or felt guilty that he had responded inappropriately) and felt a gift was in order -- it's just that in this instance it was a coffee pot!

I think that ought to read because you are a good son.

He has accepted you and didn't know how else to show it, except to buy you something that you could use (assuming you like coffee).

Some times Parents have a difficult time to express themselves... this is his way of doing so.

If he had not accepted you he would have shown you the door...

Certainly not have bought you a present.
