me, my dad & a coffee maker.

Could also be that when you told him you were gay, he might have felt later like he now can't offer you the kind of father-son advice about relationships that he has experienced. The gift was probably his way of showing he loves you, but it might also be that now he is struggling to figure out what he can offer you that is still valuable.

So he went with coffee. :)

well, coffee IS valuable.

and yeah, he definitely loves me a lot... and he's starting to warm up to Mark too!

So what goes well with a coffee maker? If he's warming up to your BF mark....then Mark might be in for a present too! :D

He probably had a hard time finding the right hallmark card for the occasion. So he ventured into the kitchen appliances department.

Maybe he's trying to compete with the gifts you'll get from the gay recruiters. ;)

J/K! Sweet story. ..|

That's sweet, my dad would buy a coffee maker and beat me to death with it.. So, i'm glad to see there are still some good parents out there.

What a great story. I hope you were being tongue-in-cheek about the "bad son" remark. It's obvious he loves you with the offering of the gift. Probably just his way of him telling you he still loves you.

I have to laugh when people say they can't accept our sexuality even though they still love us. My mom even said that. At least it's an honest reaction. He'll come around. He just needs to get used to the idea. Pretty soon he'll be welcoming your boyfriends and someday your husband into the family as if nothing had ever changed.

Young coffee beans are surrounded with a soft, sweet, red insubstantial flesh. As they mature some are specially selected - these aren't your run-of-the-mill beans. These chosen few are subjected to intense pressures before they yield that strong, black bitter satisfying essence that is craved by so many...

or maybe it was just a coffee-maker.
