Well I have been seeing this guy now for like a month now. I like him a lot and everything has been going great accept one thing. Every time we have sex it gets messy. I tried several times to go to the bathroom before and then immediately take a shower to wash up down there. Is it really necessary to douche? I heard that it is not good for my health to do that. I am not really sure what to do? I mean im not sure if it makes a difference but he's pretty well endowed so ya. Any advice you can give me I would be grateful. Thanks.
 
If you don't use a lot of liquid, a douche is ok to cleanse the rectum and lower bowel. Use about a quart of clear, warm water. Hold it several minutes and then purge.

What is harmful is injecting a gallon of water and it goes way up the bowel and cleanses too much. This will put your system out of balance.

Now I must ask, how messy is messy? Is there just some brown matter on his cock or is it a gurgling mess? Are you playing safe?
 
Always with a condom I never do bareback. It gets pretty messy to the point where I need to wipe afterward. It's more embarassing if anything. I don't have much experience with anal. Thank you for all your advice!
 
There is no quick and easy solution, other than douching. But like you said, it can have its drawbacks. It can irritate the lining of your rectum and make catching STDs a easier. You should also make sure you empty the rectum completely when you douche, or your partner may end up wet AND shitty. Also, I've heard it's possible to become dependent on douching, so I wouldn't recommend doing it every day.

For me, I don't douche. It's a hassle, and the risks aren't worth it to me. Some days are good down there and some aren't. I've just learned to know the good days from the bad (an exploratory finger can help if you're unsure), and if the guy I'm with can't handle it if he can't fuck me every single moment of every single day, it's his loss. There are plenty of other enjoyable things to be done in the bedroom.

Also, a higher fiber diet can help keep it clean down there naturally. Work up gradually to a high fiber diet or you'll have a few very uncomfortable days. If you can't always get fiber in your foods, Metamusil can also help.
 
I've always been curious about this topic as well.

I've only had anal sex a few times, and each time I am nervous as all hell.

I douche almost every second day even when I'm topping. I never had problems. In fact, I don't feel comfortable having sex if I'm not sure that I'm very clean down there. My boyfriend and I are in a committed relationship and both of us haven't been with other partners so STDs are not a concern for not douching.
It takes a couple of minutes to clean your rectum while taking a shower so why not. Just don't use a lot of water
 
One of the posters is right. You flush to much you will/can send your body in shock. I would go to the bathroom before any sex, and start on a high fiber diet.

Also something that I mentioned at the end is true. Fiber. People who don't eat right many times have messier bowel movements. In my past experince when I have a good solid shit there will be no mess.

While I'm still fairly new to this whole anal thing I'll throw in my two cents. What works for me just about perfectly is to first go to the bathroom (kind of obvious) and then hop in the shower. Rather than douching (never done it) I use a finger to help ease out whatever is left in there. YES, this does mean you may end up effectively crapping on your hand, which might be too much for some people, but if you're having good bowel movements there really shouldn't be too much in there anyway. Helps if the toilet is near the shower so you can throw waste in there.

What you end up with is a spotless arse with (as far as I know) little to no risk of problems (putting a finger up there can't be any more dangerous than sticking a dick up there, right?). Obviously this only works if you planned on bottoming in advance, but every time I do this there's no mess and no smell as well as no water leakage or farting issues that some people mentioned, PLUS using a finger or two can help loosen you up for the main event.
