Hey guys I'm feeling a little depressed lately and want to watch a few new sad movies does anyone know any made in the last 20 years that will make anyone cry. Thanks
 
All contemporary movies make me wince, if not cry. Which is why I avoid them.
 
Stepmom with Susan Sarandon made me sad.

Requiem for a Dream is also pretty depressing.
 
Wow Requiem for A Dream is amazingly good, so is House of Sand and Fog! Anymore guys
 
I always get so teary at "Life As A House". Some great, underrated performances in there - even if critics weren't very kind towards it. And for anyone who doesn't get along with their Dad and was a rebellious teen, it's an identifiable heartbreaker. (And for those who said Hayden Christensen can't act after seeing the newer "Star Wars" movies, this is one I'd point them to.)

actually, all of van triers movies are really depressing.

this years rabbit hole was sad in a more reserved, quiet way. the scene in the basement made me teary.

im guessing everybody has already seen brokeback mountain.

I thought it was stupid. It seemed to me that Lars was having a pre-9/11 gratuitous go at American Capitalism. (Basically what Verhoeven did with Showgirls).

It seems to me he changed his mind or improved his opinion when he made Dogville.

I cheered when the character played by Björk Guðmundsdóttir
was hanged. Hurray, they hanged Björk!
Lars von Trier is to movies what trolling is to internet.

An interesting modern weepie that I recommend is Far from Heaven.
 
i saw that movie as a teen, while being a total björk fanatic. at the time i thought it was the best movie ever. ive changed my mind about van trier somewhat since then - i agree that he can be ridiculously hysterical, and that he may be more interested in pushing buttons than in saying something interesting - but fact remains that i still cant get through ditd without crying during the climax.
 
i recently watched a new movie titled, 'Never Let Me Go' based on the book by Japanese-born British author Kazuo Ishiguro. it stars Carey Mulligan, Keira Knightley, and Andrew Garfield.
it was very depressing from the start to the end ...
i was in a dark mood after the movie that night
