Well, came out to my mom tonight. I wasn't ready but out now.

There were some pictures she came across on my computer.!oops!!oops! She asked if I was gay and yep. Though, she always knew and handled it well. After she told me she had a feeling, she told me to be careful of guys who want to take advantage of me when I move to NYC, not to get involved with doing porn and to always practice safe sex. She was slightly disappointed I didn't tell her earlier. I guess she'll tell my father tonight or tomorrow.

After a bit of initial awkwardness wore off, it's back to normal: "Don't forget to take the garbage out." lol

He's a bit overprotective and sheltering so I can see him freaking out not because I'm gay but instead over how I would get taken advantage of in a bar or worse.

I'm not one to go to those kind of places and I've learned how to spot guys who are only looking for one thing a mile away.

You know, just because you go to a bar doesn't mean you have to get taken advantage of. ;)

I go to bars sometimes just to hang out with friends or whatever.
 
/\ I forgot to close a window in Firefox and I left the computer for a while. She asked if she could use my computer for a bit, since the family computer is always being used by my father, I said it was alright. She clicked on Firefox and up popped the porn. !oops!

I know hotatlboi, but going alone to a bar is something I'm still not sure about. I don't know anyone in NYC and I don't even know where to go. You go to the wrong bar at the wrong time and there's a good chance of having a bad experience.

That's the worst excuse I've ever heard for anything ever. Not that I'm pushing you to go to bars alone (though if something makes you uncomfortable that means you should probably do it imo), but... screw that kind of attitude. If you go ANYWHERE at the wrong time it could mean a bad experience. If the possibility of a bad experience hinders you there, where else is it gonna hinder you in life? I dunno just a terrible way of looking at life imo.

Anyway... My mom always knew too. They do that.
