"Educationally, gay men are outliers across the entire society, let alone the “LGBTQ+ community.” Half of us have bachelors degrees (compared with 35 percent for straight men). This is true for gay men across all races, including Asian-Americans, the smartest sub-population in America. Six percent have an advanced degree — twice the percentage of straight men.

"But that leads to big class differences as well. Gay male couples are among society’s most successful: 'On average, the family income for married men in same-gender relationships is 31 percent higher than married women in same-gender relationships, and 27 percent higher than opposite gender married couples.' Gay men now earn more than straight men on average. Marriage equality has helped: 'The median adjusted annual household income for men in same-sex marriages was roughly $132,300 in 2019, significantly higher than the median income for men in opposite-sex marriages ($90,700).' "

From Andrew Sullivan's blog today:

Don't they always say that almost half of homeless youth are lgbtq?

Deeper dive needed.

What is the percentage of gay men who have children compared to straight men?

What is the percentage of gay couples with children vs. straight couples?

What is the average charitable giving of a gay man vs. a straight man?

What is the average charitable giving of a gay couple vs. a straight couple?

What is the average divorce rate of gay couples vs. straight couples?

What is the average reduction is worth of a divorcing straight man vs. a gay one?

What is the average annual medical cost born by a straight male head of household vs. a gay one?

What percentage of gay bachelor and masters graduates had dependents when in school vs. their straight peers.

I'm not sure the wealth of gay men is as much an accomplishment of effort as a class not burdened with dependent costs.

I have to wonder what that means if true.

My Own Private Idaho was a movie, so not a documentary, but it does seem more than a little bit plausible that runaways make fast money turning tricks whether they are gay or not. And, I'm absolutely certain that work avoidance is high on the priorities list of young people and old who are drifters.

Of course there are those who are kicked out for not obeying parents, gay or straight, but there's also the whole issue of "homelessness" being an umbrella that includes people couchsurfing, living with grandparents or friends or neighbors, squatting, as well as those unable to live in actual housing.

I'm going to look for data to see how many teens are homeless, how long they are, and what their orientations are, although it will be interesting to see who did a scientific sampling to be validated.

This site stated that LGBTQ youth have 120% higher chance of being at risk of homelessness after coming out: https://www.ncsl.org/human-services/youth-homelessness-overview

Considering how few gays there are proportionate to straights, it would have to be much, much, much higher than the 120% to equal the straight numbers, since it is likely we are somewhere between 3% and 10% of the population.

And, factor in the reality that coming out happens later in youth than runaways and homelessness begin, you have an even smaller base.

Whatever the incidence, I'm glad that it's becoming more acceptable to more families to embrace gay youth, and that we have more allies and support than ever in my lifetime. It's a shame gay youth have rejection but so do straight youths for very similar reasons. We just have to help all of them.

The pay gap between men and women might explain why two men make more than man and a woman.

That view of salaries has had its detractors, claiming the absence from the workforce due to maternity, lasting years, accounts for the majority of the gap statistically.

As in all discrimination, I'm sure it exists, but it's hard to find objective data.

Meaning that "straight way of life" is a rather backward and unprofitable form of social enginerring.

Which means the gays will be the aristos for next revolution and post-war social quake in the 21st century.
