Hi Guys, I watched the remake of The Fog last night with Tom Welling in it...and what a load of crap....so it got me thinking about maovie remakes.....here's 3 questions for you

1. Which film has been remade and you've watched it and thought it was really bad and should not have been made?

2. Which film has been remade and you've thought it was better than the original?

3. Which film has never been remade and you think now is the time for a newer version?

I look forward to reading your thoughts

1. The 1976 version of KING KONG. Psycho. Cheaper By the Doen. Hundreds of others. The Thing.

2. The Maltese Falcon. You see, the Humphrey Bogart version was actually the THIRD movie of that book, so it is a remake!

3. Nothing springs to mind.

1.The Omen 2.The Hills Have Eyes(lots more gore than the original..don't get me wrong i liked it but, just think the remake is way better) 3. Rob Zombies version of Halloween which is due out in August!!I Love the original i just can't wait to see Zombies version.

If a film is based on a book and other films are based on that book, it doesn't really count a remake. Unless the filmmakers ignore the book and do the film, which has happened.

1. ALL THE KING'S MEN. God that sucked. And what a shame -- Sean Penn, Kate Winslet, Jude Law, Patricia Clarkson, based on a BEST PICTURE WINNER -- sucked out loud.

2. The Departed. It works! I thought Infernal Affairs was a great, great movie, but this is just excellent. AND THANK GOD SCORSESE WON HIS OSCAR, and he deserved it, so it wasn't an entire Pity Oscar! Yay!

3 Hero. Now although only five years old and FRICKING PERFECT, I choose this mainly because it'd be hard as fuck to Americanize it, like The Departed. How can it be simple in any way? It's a challenge, and I'd love to see someone take it.

1. Which film has been remade and you've watched it and thought it was really bad and should not have been made?

The Departed

2. Which film has been remade and you've thought it was better than the original?

Village of the Damned... the original (1960) is great, but Carpenter's version was awesome...

3. Which film has never been remade and you think now is the time for a newer version?

Star Wars : episodes I, II, VI...

1.) Cheaper By the Dozen. If you're not even going to make the movie about the same story as the book or movie, then why even keep the same name. Having 12 kids isn't anything new, and you don't have to name the kids the same...

2.) The only one I can think of is The Fantastic Four, which was probably infinitely better than the one that was never released, no matter how much the recent one sucked.

3.) I don't think many actors today can convey the kind of chemistry better than the actors before them, unless the movie originally was terrible to begin with. That isn't to say that the actors today can't do as well, but being equivalent makes the remake pointless. Plus, older movies were a lot more tactful than movies now, so I feel like remakes can only be less tactful and less insightful than the original.

I would never want to see Hero made into an American film, and Hero wasn't even original to begin with. The multi-perspective color deal has been done again and again in Chinese films. Zhang Yimou has lost the thing that set him apart from other directors. Now he's just a color-whore.

1. Which film has been remade and you've watched it and thought it was really bad and should not have been made?

Rollerball
The Hitcher
The Omen
Texas Chainsaw Massacre

2. Which film has been remade and you've thought it was better than the original?

The Departed (better than Infernal Affairs)
Dawn of the Dead (2004 better than original 70s version)

3. Which film has never been remade and you think now is the time for a newer version?

The Running Man (late 80s Arnie film. Itching for a modern remake)

1. Departed (it didn't need a remake!) Juon (the Grudge) The Ring, Ring 2, Dark Water, Dawn of the Dead. Spotting a theme yet?

2. I really can't think of one that betters the original.

3. IF they did it justice (which they probably wouldn't) Kokaku Kidotai A.K.A. Ghost in the Shell. It would rock as a live action. Lucy Liu or Gong Li could both rock as the Major.

1. Which film has been remade and you've watched it and thought it was really bad and should not have been made? The Planet of the Apes

2. Which film has been remade and you've thought it was better than the original? The Thing. Casino Royale.

3. Which film has never been remade and you think now is the time for a newer version? I'll have to get back with you on this.

1. too many to mention

2. A star is born * i can't believe on a gay site no one has named this one yet. the Judy version is the first remake, and the barbara is the second remake*

I also enjoyed the new dawn of hte dead.

3. not sure.

1. Which film has been remade and you've watched it and thought it was really bad and should not have been made?

The Fog
Charlotte's Web...
saw those recently...ugh Charlotte's Web was too commercial

2. Which film has been remade and you've thought it was better than the original?

Ocean's Eleven
Dangerous Liansons (movie version of the play "Les Liaisons dangereuses")
Cruel Intentions (modernized version of "Dangerous Liasons" always have a soft spot for it)
City of Angels...(remake of 1987 "Wings of Desire", a German film)

3. Which film has never been remade and you think now is the time for a newer version?

No idea, but I'm not so naive to say that just because it was the 1st doesn't make it the best...

THe fog was awful , it was so predictable and so lame. The original was so much better

1. Departed (it didn't need a remake!)

So true !!! ..| :=D:

3. IF they did it justice (which they probably wouldn't) Kokaku Kidotai A.K.A. Ghost in the Shell. It would rock as a live action. Lucy Liu or Gong Li could both rock as the Major.

Oooooooooooh yesssssss !!!!!!! But I guess an US version could be made... maybe with Kate Beckinsale as Kusanagi (tight clothes fit on her...) and Vin Diesel as Batou... I'd love that !!! :D

1. Which film has been remade and you've watched it and thought it was really bad and should not have been made?
Mame (I did not care for the Lucy version)

2. Which film has been remade and you've thought it was better than the original?
Hunchback of Notre Dame The original was in 1911, and I liked the one with Gina Lollobrigida and Anthony Quinn much better. There are more recent ones, but I haven't seen them.
Dorian Gray I like the 1970 remake with Helmut Berger

3. Which film has never been remade and you think now is the time for a newer version?
Something For Everyone I like the original but think it could be updated.

There could also be the question, what movies should NOT be remade because you would not be able to compete with the original. Movies like GWTW come to mind, and possibly Caberet and The Women. What about The Wizard of Oz?

Dracula and Frankenstein have been made many times, and sometimes they improve and sometimes they don't. While I like the originals a lot (especially the German Nosferatu, I also like some of the new versions as well.

1. Most horror movie remakes.
2. Ocean's 11
3. I am way excited for Rob Zombie's Halloween remake. Also, I think a new Boonie & Clyde movie would be great. Cast Reese Witherspoone as Bonnie and as Clyde...I haven't decided yet.

The Americanised version of Luc Besson's La Femme Nikita was OK but not really needed (If only more Americans could be bothered to read the subtitles)

Oddly a lot of horror remakes are spoiled by the improved special effects, the old films, where they lacked the technology to show the full on gore of today's films. left far more to the viewer's imagination which can be far more effective. (That said, John Carpenter's The Thing is one of my all time favourites)

I'd like to see a remake of Bonfire of the Vanities with proper casting which is true to the novel.

King Kong should probably have been left alone (The 76 one was just crap and the Peter Jackson one was too stupid and way overdone - stampeding dinosaurs for fucks sake)

How about a new Sinbad film?

1. The Fog

2. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, The Amityville Horror, 13 Ghosts, Dawn Of The Dead, The Hitcher, Joy Ride, The Hills Have Eyes. The Grinch, When A Stranger Calls, War Of The Worlds

3. Look Whos Talking, Corrina Corrina, Sleepaway Camp, My Girl, Grease, Clueless, Casper

1. Which film has been remade and you've watched it and thought it was really bad and should not have been made? - The Stepford Wives (reprehensible), The Mancurian Candidate (don't mess with Lansbury), The Wicker Man (worse than I could possibly have imagined), the Ladykillers (just no need. so terrible and pointless)

2. Which film has been remade and you've thought it was better than the original? - To date - hasn't happened

3. Which film has never been remade and you think now is the time for a newer version? - Shall never happen.

Remakes are the work of the devil!
