What's exactly happened with it recently? I was thinking about downloading it again temporarily myself, but hearing about a change like this makes me more hesitiant.

Yeah... we NEED a stable free FTP program that doesn't have all the bells and whistles, or potential spyware for that matter. We HAD that once..... it was called Napster. Look what happened to THAT.

Try Limewire. http://www.limewire.com/english/content/home.shtml It's free, P2P, and you usually get great search results for more popular music. If you're wary about downloading illegally, Limewire will give a notice warning that the download isn't licensed, in other words probably pirated, and you can decide whether to download it or not.

Another version of Limewire is Frostwire -- it's almost identical to Limewire except it doesn't limit downloads according to licences.

Drawbacks to Limewire is that you can pick up virus or malware from some of the downloads. Just use common sense when you download a file -- don't download anything under 300 kb, it's probably adware. Personally, I have never encountered anything really nasty since I started using it.

Unfortunately Limewire might not be around much longer in its present form, it has a big lawsuit pending from the RIAA. Interestingly Limewire is countersuiing.

It might look a little confusing at first, but it's incredibly simple to use and allows you to easily download anything you want.

Just join a bunch of hubs on the main page, then file--> search

Limewire makes my computer slooooooooooow. And my computer is usually the quickness. I don't get it. So I stick to blog sites!!
