sooo i watched mtv's premiere of skins this past monday and i enjoyed it, but i haven't seen the british version and ive heard that the british version is amazing. so im not sure what to think now since ive heard all these negative reviews. has anybody seen the british version and mtv's new version? what do you think? how do they compare or differ?
 
US sucked compared to the UK.....we have a thread going already about both in the Celeb forum...join us there!
 
Enjoyed the Brit series with the gay characters. Will the MTV have a gay character?
 
I forgot to watch it. I've seen the British version on BBC America.

I did read they are some parent's groups upset about MTV's version. And some people inside of MTV are afraid they might be face child porn charges over some upcoming episodes.

I expect a major re-edit or pulling of the series.
 
Yeah, the League of Puritanical Holy Americans is all upset and shitting baby seals over Skins after the first episode so maybe MTV will either tame it or drop it. I hate when these asswipe groups think they can regulate what we see on tv. For chrissakes those Teen Moms and 16 year old kids getting knocked up and being proud of it should be their priority. There's a school where at least 90 pregnancies have happened. Are they fucking in the bathroom stalls, on the floor of the gym, or on the playground? All these kids are dumb as rocks to want to get pregnant just so they can be a tv laughing stock.
 
Just finished watching the second episode and... LOVED IT! Hope this show doesn't get cut!
 
I heard the premiere brought in 3.3 mill. viewers and the second was 0.9 mill. The second episode was a lot better but I'm still not the biggest fan.

i hated the u.s 'being human' weak compared to the uk version. buti do love the u.s shameless tho. and skins sucks major ass.
 
I hope this bullshit gets the can. It serves them right for changing Maxxie to a girl.
 
While the show is a great watch, it's interesting how time and time again, these shows are being billed as "the REAL teenagers of today".

Degrassi (the earlier seasons) had great writing and realistic situations that young adults can relate to. Skins may be a little over the top.
 
Which instances are you talking about with not associating to the "real teenagers of today?"

I will admit the whole drug dealer, the mafia thing and the constant smoking in the bathroom might be a little over the top with some people, but the language, parties, and attitudes are fairly accurate.
 
I hate that the commercials use a quote from a review saying "A real look at American teens"...no...it's a real look at British teens as interpreted by American teens


and I'm loving the US Shameless...I like that they are using the plotlines from the UK version but changing them up and making them their own from the start.

I'm not minding the US Being Human....the vampire isn't as good as the UK one...but I like Sam Huntington on the show.

The language, parties, and attitudes are accurate, there's not enough variety in the characters.
