Just curious, but are there any musicians around here that play instruments, sing, and/or write music? I was just curious to know.
 
I sing, and play clarinet. I am classically trained. I also compose a little bit of music. I'm going to be doing a composition class next semester, which I'm really looking forward to.

KellyCfan, nah. I don't think you should quit. Everybody starts out at everything sucking, so if you really like songwriting I think you should practice and go for it. And besides, I'm sure they're better than a majority of the commercial recycled stuff out there in the mainstream today.
 
It's gon from songs to sentences. Now I just need to put the sentences together and I could be the next John Lennon! RIGHT! lol
 
Haha, a lot of good songs start out as sentences, stories, heck diary entries too. Don't give up. Art takes various forms. ;)
 
Ah, lucky you! I've only ever performed for people once really, and they were all drunk anyway... lol.

And I also have wanted to start a band this past year, not many were keen in doing it with me. Hope you have better luck than I did!
 
I am an amateur Appalacian dulcimerist, amateurish to the point that it's not worth mentioning, except that I write lyrics and have been progressing towards putting them to music.
 
Classically trained musician and singer here. I work professionally as a singer, and have done gigs as wide ranging from opera, and musical theatre, to background vocals on TV commercials.
 
Yes...I love to play guitar, keyboards & sing...have a mini recording studio at home so I write & record songs...I wish I would find more gay musicians when I'm online....any musicians want to be a myspace friend... www.myspace.com/icefan
 
Aw, it's nice to know we've got plenty of musicians out here.

I also write lyrics and play the guitar. I'm hoping to get into the music world after I graduate, so here's to hoping.
 
I do some noise every now and then.
Now being serious I play the piano and guitar, and I like to sing as well (though that IS pure noise).
I like to play some "international" songs, like The Beatles mainly, but I also play a lot of popular local music (I'm from South America), and I sing in a group of popular music and do the choral arrengements, even though I'm not a good singer at all!
