He passed peacefully. Buried in my land.

I did not cry as I'd been mentally preparing myself for a while. My husband cried, though.

Well, he is resting in peace now. We buried him in a forested part of our land.

It's sad when you lose a pet and a trusted companion. Take time to grieve and I'm sorry for the loss. Remember all the good times you had with him.

So very sorry for your loss. I bawled like a baby when I had to put my furry little boy down. It's ok, we understand. And your loving pooch does too.

I'm sorry to hear that. Years ago we lost our dog, 17 years old too. I knew he couldn't survive, I prepared myself too. The day before his death I spent some time with him, talked to him and said goodbye. It felt like he understood and we were both in peace.

Most dogs don't live till 17 just like how most humans don't live till 100. But there are instances of that.

I've run into some people who wouldn't believe me my dog was 17. In the last year, he had trouble with arthritis and bladder problems. We had to set up a heated place in the garage with a doggy access to the backyard so he could stay out there. Don't know why it's such an unbelievable thing to some people that some dogs live to that age.

I don't know if any race can live that long. Our dog was a labrador and we took very good care of him.
I had a grand aunt & uncle, they had a female labrador who lived for 16 years.

But how lucky you were to have had him for so many years.

So sorry to hear. I was curled up in a ball for two weeks after my boy died he was 16---will never do a dog again--too painful---too attached---not a good dog owner.

Our family dog and I grew up together.
She lived to be over 16 years old.
My dad couldn't do it so I was elected to do the deed shortly after I got my drivers license...... :(
That was horrible.......but not as horrible as never having her.
When and if the time comes that I have to have to deal with my doggy I'll be with him.......and that WILL be the hardest thing ever but I'm not going to abandon him in a place where he doesn't want to be or know what's going on.
I want to comfort and love him to the very end.
Just typing this brought tears to my eyes....... :(
