My Best Friend Just Came Out

don't feel stupid...anyone would be excited to find out that their best friend were gay...even if there is no sexual attraction it bring things to a whole new level of understanding

but most guys don't come out over a myspace bulletin

... what a joke ...

but if that happened to me ... i would have believed it ...

I'd say your friend is pretty lucky. He's one of the few who can decide their sexual preference.

OMG, I feel like such an idiot now. I decided to call him after posting this. He said that bulletin was just a joke. He said that him and his cousin were posting stupid bulletins like that. It just got me so worked up. So I guess he's settled with being straight, but if he was gay, I'm sure he would come out to me. God I feel so stupid.

We he can be straight/straight leaning.

Or he could have gotten scared after posting the bulletin and decided to lie and go back in the closet.

I don't know, you know him better than me, just pointing out both possibilities.

So your straight friend thinks that being gay is 'a joke' and 'stupid'? This must make you review how much you actually have in common and how appropriate he might be for you as a friend.

Well, it seems like a stupid thing for him to do, because surely some people will take it seriously (as you did), and he's going to have to keep explaining it as a joke. (If it was a joke lol.)

Look at the positive side, by immediately offering your support you showed your friend that you are a good friend. I'm sure he appreciates that, even if his coming out was a joke.

I agree.

I hope he sees that the joke was in poor taste since being gay is no joke to you.
