Haven't gotten it yet, but it's ordered.

My parents wanted to get a laptop, and they didn't want to spend a ton on it. So I suggested that they buy my old one (Aug 2003), and I'd be the good saint and get a new one (!!).

I was thinking about a macbook, but I'm thoroughly addicted to the TrackPoint, and only ThinkPads have those these days, so I'm stuck with the venerable, yet somewhat expensive IBM (Lenovo, but they still say IBM) Thinkpad. Oh darn!

Anyway, because I'm in the boasting mood...prepare to salivate...

Intel Core 2 Duo T7200 / 2 GHz
2GB DDR2 SDRAM
100GB, 7200RPM HD
15.4" Widescreen (1680x1050)
9 cell battery
ATI Mobility FireGL, 256MB, V5250
WiFi, and all the usual goodies...

It should be good reading the stories here, and more! *|*

Are you going to be using this for CAD work and video editing??? Because if you're gonna use it for any kind of gaming that FireGL is going to KILL your performance. And if you're not going to be doing CAD/3D design work, your money would have been better spent elsewhere.

FireGL's are professional OGL cards designed specifically for CAD and 3D design work. They're optimized to run OpenGL for those software programs. Which means you're going to get a marked decrease in D3D gaming performance. And if you're not a CAD or 3D designer, then you spent a lot of money on a card you didn't need :(.

Yeah, it's primarily for CAD. I spend a lot of time in Pro|Engineer. When you get a complex model put together with a lot of curves, edges, etc., things slow wayyyyy down. Not to mention that I also have a 21" LCD that I use when running Pro|E at home. So there's a fair bit of drain on the graphics processor when I'm in full-fledged Pro|E mode.

I just got a T60p as well, Same specs even, except I opted for the 14 inch 1400x1050 display and 6 cell batter for portability and weight reasons. I love it, it's like my old T41, except, faster. I couldn't buy anything else but another ThinkPad, they're the best, and I couldn't ever downgrade from that 1400x1050 screen that I had on my T41. No one else makes a high res screen like that it seems. Not without going to like an obscene 17 inch screen or something.

I got mine back in the beginning of December when they were on sale. I got mine for $1627, and if you were to buy the same thing now, it'll cost you over $2000. So I was happy with my deal. :D

Honestly, the FireGL performs pretty damn well no matter what you're doing.

Congrats man.

It's not as good when it comes to gaming actually. I've owned FireGLs, Quadros, Radeons, and GeForces. It all depends on what your computer is for. It's give and take.

Maybe not, but it still performs pretty well.

Especially compared to my T41 with a Radeon 9000 32 MB. :p

Still, I don't use my computer for any gaming past solitare.

I have an XBOX 360 for that. ..|

I'm going to get it tomorrow. It arrived at my apartment last Thursday, but I'm at home on winter break, so I'll finally get to see it tomorrow.
