Not clean, STERILE (like you said the first time). There's a difference.

I advise you to read up on it and know the risks first. You can introduce bacteria in there and give yourself a very painful infection, among other things.

Well you CAN do it if you want, just know that there are risks and some knowledge and a few preventative measures will greatly reduce your risks.

Apparently there are instruments designed for this sort of thing, I'm assuming they come in sterile packaging. There's a good start. I would STRONGLY discourage the use of some random household thing. What you're talking about is an invasive procedure, and should be sterile.
 
it IS called sounding, and there are lots of products they sell for it. Just google sounding

It IS also important that you don't just stick anything down there, you most likely will get an infection
