Here is an upload of the 1952 animated fairy tale, "The Scarlet Flower".

I was 7 years old when I first saw this on television in 1964, and that version was dubbed into English by Bill Cayton and Fred Ladd.
This upload is in the original Russian, which I prefer. The actions of the characters tell the story.

So much excellent animation was done in the Sovjet Union and other communist countries.

So strange that many people seem to pretend it never happened.

A world whose span was two World Wars and nigh a century...

As a child I was completely taken by this film. For years it was the only "Beauty and the Beast" cartoon I knew about. Only with my first pc in 2008 was I able to lean more of how films from the great Russian studio, Soyuzmultfilm in Moscow, made it to the United States.

How Fred Ladd and William Cayton were able to secure cartoons from Russia, East Germany and Czechoslovakia in the 1950's must be an amazing story in itself.

The story is simple enough that I prefer the original Russian, the acton tells the story. Like when sister kicks the cat.
