My mom called me a few weeks ago, telling me about her plans for a nice vacation.
She wanted to bring my niece to Connecticut to spend time with her father that just moved there. She also spend a week or so on a real vacation , away from family, with some friends.
She settled for a week in NYC, with her friend and her friend's daughter. Sightseeing and walking around the city.
After the vacation she wanted to spend time with me, so I had to clean the whole house!
After deep cleaning and reorganizing the house, I had used the guest room as a storage unit, I drove down to Albany to pick up my mom and her friends.
My mom wanted me to show her friends the best that Western NY has to offer, after a week in NYC...
So I took them to Canada.
Niagara-on-the Lake to be exact. We also visited the Falls, of course.
They had a great time, saw the beautiful town and the very impressive falls, and I got to sample some local wines, that were excellent!
After than I took them to the Finger Lakes for sightseeing and wine tasting.
Specifically the Seneca Lake , where we got to sample some fine wines too!
It is funny because my mom doesn't drink and her friend's daughter was underage, so it was only the two of us (me and my mother's friend) drinking...
but the scenery was so beautiful that we all had a great time!
From there I took them to a tour of Rochester and the obligatory stop at Wegmans.
All in all, it was a good trip for them, they got to see a part of NY that is very different from New York City, but still very enjoyable.
One of the stops they enjoyed the most was the stop at the farm to pick up my share of vegetables. The veggies that we get here are not grown in PR! and they got to pick flowers and herbs for home cooking!
My mom stayed for a few extra days after her friends left for Orlando, but all she wanted to do is stay home and rest.
After that I took her back to CT where I spent some time with my brother and my nieces...
the drive back was long, and I was exhausted, but happy to have spent that time with my family
