Not too long ago my yahoo account stopped working. It was working fine one night but when I woke up the next day, I turned on my laptop and went to go check my mail. When I click on my mail to check it, the screen took me to where I had to sign back in to my yahoo. (Which I thought was weird....cuz it hasn't been two weeks since I haven't signed out.) So I tried to sign in but nothing happen. I did it again, again, and again but nothing.

I know I didn't forget my password....
So the only thing I am guessing is somebody probably hacked it. I hope that's not the case....

I tried changing my password but my STUPID ASS, forgot the "my favorite pass time" section so I couldn't change it.

So I am asking...is there a way for me to get back in to my account? Do you think my account has been deleted? If so, then I guess I have no have no choice but to create a new account.

It's a bit unclear here, but what's happening when you try to sign in? Are you just being taken back to the sign in page and asked to do it again?

Password looping like that is often the result of a bad or corrupted cookie on your machine. Try clearing your cookies, and then try to sign in again, and see if it lets you.

Yea, everytime I try to sign in, it takes me back to sign in again.
How do I clear my cookies?

Go to "Tool" on your web browser menu bar, then, "Internet Options" and there should be a "Clear Cookies" or "Delete Cookies" tab somewhere on there. That's how mine is anyway. Good luck.

It's possible your account was hacked, but if they changed the password wouldn't it take you to the "The password you entered blah blah blah" screen when you tried to sign in?

I kind of guessed that was the problem. Yahoo's sign in cookies can be problematic at times, and when you get a bad one on your machine, it'll do that to you. You get caught in an endless password loop -- you sign in and it just takes you right back to the sign in page.

The absolutely fabulous person above me -- kidding; I like him :-) -- gave you the basics. Since I don't know what you have on your machine, I'm going to copy & paste a wide-ranging table which covers how to do the deed in most things out there. I've copped it from the U of Wisconsin, and you can check it out for yourself here if you like (the "here" is a link to the page) or you can just choose what you need below:

Yea it keeps taking me back to the sign in screen when I try to enter my password.

Thank you for your help. I really do appreciate it.
I just cleared my cookies and that didn't help either.....
Urgh....I don't mind created a new account, which I might have to. But the thing is, all my important docs and info is on there. I don't know what to do now...lol

Sorry about that. I'm not sure what to suggest, other than a new account.

You could maybe try signing in with a wrong password. When it rejects that, then try the right one.

Do you have more than one browser available to you? Meaning if it doesn't work in Internet Explorer, for example, try using something else, such as FireFox.

You could try to sign in from a different machine, if possible -- like at a Net Cafe, or the public library, and see if you can get your password to work from there.

I'm not sure if Help at Yahoo would be much help, or if you're out of luck.

Do you happen to belong to any Yahoo Groups? If you do, you could try going to the Yahoo Groups page to sign in there, which should also sign you in (if it works) to your email account.

Other than those possibilities, I can't think of anything, ATM, but it's early in the morning, and my brain isn't quite alive yet.

Yeah. NephilimSin, try installing Google's Chrome browser. It's lightweight and small, and won't interfere with any of your other browsers. The reason for this is you'll be isolating the environment in terms of any cookies or file caching - it'll be a "fresh" browser that you can try.

The other thing (though a longshot for your case) is that some over-aggressive real-time antivirus/firewall software may be blocking cookie reading/writing. Make sure nothing like that is going on.

Try signing in to a wrong password and then trying the original? Never heard of that, I’ll try that.

I always use Firefox, so in this case I’ll try signing in on Internet explorer.

I thought about signing in to a different machine before but never tried it. Since you suggested it, my thought about signing into a different machine was right.

I do belong to some yahoo groups. I am gonna try to sign in on there.

For someone who just woke up early in the morning, you certainly do have a lot of good ideas lol.

Chrome browser? Never heard of it, I'll check it out!!

Don't. It's still full of bugs, security and privacy issues.
Thanks for the additional information. It's not my primary browser (that is Firefox), but if the original poster needs a fresh installation of something (I've seen cases where both IE and Firefox cookies were problematic), I'm sure he can "live on the edge" and run it for 1-2 minutes to check his Yahoo signon. :)

Wow really>?
Good thing I didn't install it yet.
Everything is a matter of opinion. Even in technology, there are no absolutes - people here will praise one device or platform, others hate it. Web journalists will rave over a product, others will cite its shortcomings. Everything has its ups and downs.

Nephilim, just go for things! A lot of your posts in this thread are "I'm gonna try that" or "I'll look into that" or "I should do that" or "Good thing I didn't do that". That kind of musing post doesn't accomplish too much - I'd say just be actionable and go for some of the excellent suggestions so far in this thread, work the solutions through one by one, and see if you can nail the problem down. :) I don't think your system's going to blow up anytime soon. Let us know the results of the tips various people have given here!

Yes you are right....thanks for your opinion.
I should give it a go :)
