Not that I don't get sick of 82 game regular seasons.......I still like having the option though. This winter is going to blow ass without the NBA. I might have to start watching hockey. FUCK!
 
Doesn't mean a thing to me. College basketball to me seems more fun.
 
I agree, the NBA owners and players need to come to an agreement. We as fans just want basketball to return. They both need to settle their differences , I can't stomach the fact of losing a whole season.

If the players decide to dissolve the union and bring the owners to court, I don't think we'll get a season. :(
 
Let's just keep our fingers crossed that the players can agree to the new terms the owners have set out. I have faith in Fisher and I hope that the union does not decertify. Wednesday cannot come soon enough.

If they did that, I think the owners would actually agree to terms in the 30-45 day window that would take to complete.

Seems like there will be a season, and the players might agree to the 50/50 split which is a big loss for them.

AGHH! The owners just made a new offer, and now we have to wait until next week to hear if the players union is going to accept it. Damn, I was hoping this would be over by now.

Hey if they do accept it, and they have this amnesty clause for each team, who would you want your team to get rid of?

I'm going to say get rid of Rip Hamilton. I've grown sick of seeing him. And he's not worth 24 million over two seasons.
 
Being a Laker fan I would get rid of Luke Walton. He is always injured. He has a 30 million dollar contract and is sitting on the bench.
 
I've loved the NBA since my company gave me season tickets to Utah Jazz games as a bonus for several years back when the Jazz were contenders for a title..

But in recent years the players have gotten so greedy it makes me sick.
They make millions... Some of the teams are very profitable... Boston, LA Lakers, Miami, others... but there are small market teams that are not profitable..

I wish the owners would hold out and say to the players... 'ok guys.. you go play in Italy, China, Spain..or wherever'... and then the owners would gather a group of good players that want to play for the sport. Hell, college play is great and those guys don't get paid at all.

I also agree with a previous poster that stated the regular NBA season is far too long.
A 60 game season would be just fine. The first round of the playoffs should revert to the best 3 of 5. The go from there.
The NBA is losing fans right and left... My two brothers who used to be big fans have abandoned the NBA... I'm right behind them.

What about Artest though? I mean, not that I have anything against Metta World Peace, he's just not pulling his weight for the money he's making on that team IMO.
 
I guess I have a soft spot for Metta World Peace. Ever since he showed up during the 2010 finals against Boston. I didn't think he played well @ all last season. He had trouble grasping the triangle. He is a Hell of a defender the reason we aquired him in the first place. But if he has another lackluster season I will have a change of heart. Hahaha.

I originally had sided with the players . Given the owners are the ones paying the players these elaborate salaries. I also think that there are too many teams. I don't mind the long season @ all. I love the NBA since I was a child going to Laker games with my dad. I just want a resolution to end the lockout.

I definitely agree with all of this.

I just don't understand this "greedy players" sentiment by fans. They don't demand these large contracts, they are offered to them because teams are competing for their talent. If you are a franchise that is losing money, then don't offer contracts that will put you into the red. The issue is way too many teams bid for players, not to make them more competitive, but just to sell some tickets to come closer to breaking even. This is what drives up the salary numbers on the contracts of subpar performers.

Also, as per the last CBA, all salaries have a predetermined max. They are set, owners cannot pay players more than a max, there is a salary cap with luxury tax penalties, and still with this much structured, owners are still losing money?

This is a business, and the teams losing money shouldn't be guaranteed to profit just because they exist. If they cannot build a competitive team they can afford nor build a great fan base in their city that will attend games regardless of how many starts are there, then they have to eat that loss or shut down.

I don't doubt there are teams losing money, I just don't think paying player less will solve their problem. High salaries aren't killing these teams. Incompetence, weak markets and an excess in number of teams are.
 
Good points NYCisME. Today multiple NBA players filed antitrust lawsuits against the NBA. I'm also excited about the top 2 attorneys who represented the NFL players will be defending the players
