Neanderthal DNA may explain why some of us are morning people

Scientists find genes inherited from our prehistoric cousins increase tendency to rise early – useful in regions with short winter days

I'm just back in from running errands and getting things done before work.

Boy, are my knuckles draggin'!

Come to think of it, this could explain my attraction to hairy men.

I sleep late in the winter months. From May through Oct. I am up at 7:00 because of my lawn service business. I don't know that DNA plays a role in it.

These days I wake up, and get up, at 6 am on the dot every day of the week, but prior to my late 50s I preferred to sleep until at least noon whenever possible. I think my Neanderthal DNA just took a bit of time to kick in.

I don't possess a single molecule of early rising DNA.

You woke me up for this?

I'm a night owl living in an early bird's body. Both have advantages but there's nothing like meeting the sunrise every day.

I think we have Tarsier-DNA instead.
