Need Help with GMail

Hey,

I have spent the last 3 days trying to get access and have wasted time and resources and so I am going to post here and maybe, just maybe someone here knows the answer or knows of way.

I am having computer issues with my laptop and am thinking of getting a new one and so I want to be able to access my email account with Gmail outside of Outlook and also to transfer it to a new computer. Well, I forgot my password, I had it written down and never put in my old fashioned address book like I have all the other passwords. I get to the secret question and it is suppose to be my first phone number, I have put in ever friggin phone number that I have ever had, took me a couple hours to find them all, and still can not access Gmail assistance. There doesn't seem to be a way, at least the hours I have spent looking over the pages, of actually contacting a live and breathing human being at GMail in order to ask for help and assistance. It seems to be nothing more than an automated system of typing in various responses and little squiggly letters seen in a box. Reminds me of the stupid phone and press this. Right about now I am ready to press five curled fingers into something.

I really don't want to go through and change my email address again seeing how I have it registered for my job search and send out notifications to all of my contacts. So, is there a way to actually get help from GMail on this issue or am I basically screwed in the ass over this without the benefits?

Is your password saved in outlook?

If so, you may want to look for something that can recover the password.
 
I believe you can contact gMail somewhere .. but it must be hidden well (The ex of the current gf of a friend of mine changed her password AND secret question, and somehow he got the account back for her from gMail).
But looseliam is right .. if the Password is saved in outlook there are either programs that can read it OR you can create a fake e-mail server change the server address from the gmail account in outlook to your fake server and watch the password being sent (if you are not using an encrypted authentification).
Or just use a network sniffer like ettercap on the windows machine while fetching the mail from gMail over outlook
 
Why? Because I am too lazy to search google account help?

I would do

nc -p 25 -l

change host to localhost in outlook and "check" that google account.

I have filled this form out at least 5 times and submitted it to Google and I have it sent to another email address as your GMail account needs to be inactive for 24 hours in order to reset your passwords and stuff, according to what they say. All I get back from them is a form response stating that I have not provided enough information and that they don't believe I am the owner of the account. There is still no link to a live person or to contact them directly. What a way to do business.

This is totally frustrating to me. I am not "geekie" enough to understand or to work with all of the other items or suggestions that was given by using sniffers and other things to recover the password via outlook on a download.

I guess my only other option will be to change usernames and establish a whole new account and then go through the hassle of updating all my contacts and accounts with another new address.

have you googled "retrieve outlook password?"

There's a lot of software out there that'll do it. ABF's trial version will give you the first 3 characters; perhaps that will jog your memory?

corny, i think outlook listens for +OK before it sends data. I've tried netcat on my windows, linux, and soalris boxes and I get no data sent when outlook tries to authenticate.

Hey losseliam, thanks for the suggestions. I googled it and got a program. It said the download, trial, would only give me the first 3 characters. I downloaded the free one and it retrieved the whole thing. I now have the password, no thanks to the wonderful customer care and service from Google, Inc., and it is now written down with all of my other passwords. Thanks a bunch. Saved my day and made feel so much better now.
