I have black hair--not jet black, but pretty close. little silver threads have started showing up in it, and people have really started noticing. I'm looking for something easy to use that can gently touch it up a little. I know that some people think gray hair is sexy, but at 26 I'm just not ready for it. ;) any suggestions?

Try using a semi-permanent hair color. That is coloring without peroxide in it. Use a dark ash brown to start with. Ash has no red in it. Follow manufactures' directions.

there is some stuff out there that darkens "graying" again to your natural color. it works really good for some people. my ex used that (he got his first gray hairs with 28 ;) ) . it slowly makes the gray hairs darker again, until you can hardly see them.
i forgot about the name though :-/

Te cheap way would be Just For Men, Med Brown (and thats OK) so they blend. At a salon, be sure it is a Redkin Salon and they will use a semi perminent product called Shades EQ, designed for men or a Redkinproduct called Camo. I prefer the Shades. We huge success with this in my salon.

just dye a little bit of your hair where the grey is. don't leave it on as long as long as it says to and only the grey hair will color since it id lighter than your dark hair. i had the same problem. and i started dying my hair but it left a strange unnatural cast to my hair once it started washing up lighter after a couple days. but i would leave it on for the full time. those temp colors i have tried and they wash out pretty quick.

if you're really serious about matching you existing colour, see a professional. There are no guarantees how a drug store product will react in your hair and once on, very little to be done if it turns out badly.

If you're like me and are prepared for some experimenting and can get away with less than perfect results, go ahead and try out a home job.... other wise, let a pro do it.... You're probably looking at $35 bucks once every 2 months.... but you're guaranteed of what you'll get

The only way to make it look natural is to only color the grey hairs without distrubing your natural color. There are products that have a low level of peroxide that will leave your hair relativly undisturbed while still getting rid of the grey. The grey is very porous and has difficulty accepting color. Get a profesional "colorist" to do it for you. If you like it but cant afford to have it done all the time, find out eactly what they use so you can do it yourself. Often hair takes on a reddish or brassy look if the wrong shade or product is used. This is usually what gives away that you dye your hair. Colors with "Ash" tones will help in this area.

Don't go to the hairdresser I went to today, that is a good start!:grrr:
