Ok this maybe just another stupid queerie;) , but here goes....
The other day i downloaded the new IE, when i tried to log onto gaydar it just bought up "error-click here" nothing happened when I clicked there except the message came up in another spot.....
I was able to log onto gaydar with firefox but it is a bit slow
I contacted gaydar support and they gave me instructions to reset but this didn't help.
So in a flash of brilliance I decided to do a system restore and get back to the old version of IE that worked fine, the system restore worked, but i now get the same error message when logging onto gaydar with the old version.
My question is how can I get IE to let me log on to gaydar...
ps dont tell me to just give up gaydar and use gay.com because gay.com only speaks to me in Italian and I don't speak Italian, but that is another story....
any suggestions will be greatly appreciated
Thanx
Steve

well i think it is now sorted but i have to logon thru their uk site, but it brings up the aussie site, technology is baffling

And i say the same for Vista as well. Avoid Vista and IE7 for at least another 6 months. Or until they release the first Service Pack for both. You don't want to end up PAYING microshaft to beta test THEIR products :).

Hook up with an Italian. You're bound to learn it :)

I would suggest reinstalling IE7 and Going to Tools > Internet Options > Advanced Tab, then Click the 'Reset...' button. This will reset everything with IE including settings that may be held over from IE6 and clear them all out setting them back to the default.

I strongly suggest you keep IE7 installed, it is MUCH more secure then IE 6 and, reguardless of whether you use IE you should install it as IE is a part of the operating system, and many other applications and features including ones not made by Microsoft rely on the IE components.

As for your weird redirection issies with sites, this seems to be an issue with your connection. Most sites use your IP address to figure out where you are and redirect you based on that location. Are you by any chance using a proxy server or something like Tor?

Ok, i myself haven't had any dealings with IE7, i chose not to install it for a while until they work the kinks out. However my neighbor just called and is having problems with his computer, and since i'm the resident techie in the neighborhood, i'm going to be fixing it for him.

IE7 is slowing his system to a hault (it's an old system), so i want to get rid of that for him. Is there any special procedure for removing it and reinstalling IE6 that i should be aware of? Where can i get IE6 anymore? Or can i?

Just a quick thought to all of you worrying about IE7. Dump it. As provenlogic stated, Microsoft cannot release a product that isn't full of frakking bugs, security holes, and a myriad of unforeseen complications.

Firefox is just (if not more) powerful than IE7. Most plug-ins (like adobe flash) now have Firefox compatibility.
Get Firefox 2 Here

So guys, is there any special procedure i should be aware of for removing IE7 on this guys computer? Or anything anyone who has removed it can say about the process? I refuse to beleive it's going to be as easy as Add and Remove Programs and then a reinstall of IE6...

I run with the pack when it comes to wait and see attitudes but I have to say guys that I've been using IE7 for a couple of months now (when I have to for certain sites) and I've had no problems with it whatsoever - and WMP11.

Well his computer is ancient. I worked on it 2 years ago (memory/video upgrade) and it was OLD then. It's a first gen P4 with Rambus DRAM................ Plus he's got a crappy DSL connection. IE7 (and i'm sure a ton of other sh*t i'll have to remove from his computer) is slowing his connection and his computer down to a crawl. But i suppose i can't be sure until i look, cause all he says is "It's just so slow now. It takes forever. It's slow. It's slow.", and that's not particularly descriptive...

Oh yea, i know the routine! I've done it hundreds of times for people. So much that it wears on my last nerves. I swear, people just need to do a little bit of preventative maintainance and their computers would never get in this condition!! You don't see you or i complaining about our computers acting that way do you!? No! Because we take the 5 min ahead of time to prevent the nightmare down the road. Sheesh. ;)

I do regular maintenance religiously, have IE7 and it works like a charm. I love it. Not a single error message, system freeze or anything at all. Smoov lyk butta!!! Oh yeah!!!
