New Square $3 coin for Canada

I thought I'd get this in before somebody else beat me to it....

"At least you don't have to worry about it rolling off the table!"

I don't think the mint had that in mind when they designed it, but I like your reasoning. And you wouldn't have to chase it under the sofa if you miss it in a coin toss.

It's a 3 dollar coin...but costs 45.95?! Where is the logic in that?

It's a collector's coin. It will never enter circulation. Besides, with a limited run of only 20,000 and the fact that it's sterling silver. . .

Sounds like a bargain to me

Governments need new and exciting ways to raise funds

is nobody going to make the joke that a $3 bill isn't quite as queer anymore?

I don't recall Canada ever having a $3 bill or coin before. We do, however, make great use of the $2 coin (and, before that, the $2 bill).

yeah, I just hate the name "Two-nie"

I thought "Bear Back" was a better name for it.

Oh well, I was out-voted and I moved from Canada in shame.

Well people told me you moved in shame, but I didn't realize it was due to the "Bear Back" ...

Our only non-circular coin is the 50 cent piece, which is in the shape of a dodecagon .....

It used to be round but the shape was changed a number of years ago because people were mistaking it for a 20 cent piece, which was a bit smaller in size.

The US has tried to introduce $1 coins at least twice, and both times they were dismal failures. I think one of them was -- dodecaphonic?

Means that when you go to see it in 25 years it might be worth $10?

BTW, "Sterling silver" and it's GOLD coloured. I don't know, seemed funny to me.

The UK, EU and Canada have one and two dollar (pound in the UK) coins in wider circulation.

Omigod that's so ridiculous!

But I want one...I'm just confused to it's prcing of 47 dollars...I mean it's not really a 3 dollar coin anymore is it? It's worth more than that....I mean shouldn't it of started out at the modest three dollars?

You see now, that would only make sense, and of course in this world, we just can't have that.

Let me get this is before somebody else beats me to it, too...

Click on the FLIP function...

Did anyone else think of "the queen's beaver..."? "A Beaver Unlike Any Other...?"
