Good grief.
Hey There Delilah has outsold Umbrella.
And you haven't offered proof that Umbrella is the #1 song of the decade. Since you deleted that list, perhaps there were other 2000 - current songs that had more point, Hips Don't Lie for example.
The defense rests.

LOL enjoy your pie , must have bought that music law degree from kmart.

You brought your witness Mr Smooth and embarrassed him on the stand.

Here There Delilah might have has national success but its no where close to the mega international UMBRELLA.

And Umbrella spent a lot more weeks at number one than Delilah. And i think it was Beautiful Girls that knocked it out of the top spot lol. It fell as quickly as it rose.

I'm afraid...no, make that pleased...to announce that Danugh is correct. Rihanna's "Umbrella" has in fact bypassed "Smooth" on that chart. Will it do so on Billboard? Probably not. It's been on the chart for 27 weeks - "Smooth" was on for 60. "Umbrella" is at #30, and will be dropped from the chart once it falls below #50. Even if it falls only one spot a week, that won't be long enough, and it doesn't have the AC airplay that "Smooth" had to carry it.

That said, I thought the decades went 1-0. So the 80s were 1981-1990. In that case, "Smooth" doesn't apply. And even if it does, it doesn't diminish the fact that "Umbrella" will go down as one of the biggest singles of all time. (dancing bananas here)

In the music calender the year starts the first week of October.

Ahh thats so unbias and sweet, factual and true, but still sweet :)

Lex says some sarcastic things about Rihanna sometimes but he is able to give credit where credit is due unlike...

Ontario, i dont mean to kick you when you are down or is it rub salt in the wound but i couldnt resist this,

Plain White T's, the group that sings your precious, Hey There Delilah? Here is the group doing a cover version of Rihannas mega hit UMRELLA,

None of this changes the fact that Umbrella will not be the year's #1 digital download. Sure it spent more weeks at #1 than HTD but that's only one criteria in year end chart tabulation.

>>>In the music calender the year starts the first week of October.

Well, even so, I thought the 90s went 1991-2000, not 1990-1999.

And it just means "Umbrella" is up there with "Macarena" - a song I don't like that was massively popular. :)

Lex

surprised!? why for?
i got it a while back... i was so excited because Shadowplay is probably my favorite JD song.

LCD Soundsystem's cover of No Love Lost is great too. i don't know if it's for the soundtrack though, it's on the All My Friends single.

I don't know. I got it on vinyl, and I was expecting it to either be a slavish imitation, or else a "goofy" rendition. But they managed to stick close enough to the original while making it obviously theirs.

Lex

It's some promo thing, I think. "She's Lost Control" (the original) is the B-side.

Lex

* The Killers have the second highest debut on Top 50 Digital
with "Shadowplay." Good for them. "Read My Mind" is my
favorite song of the year. But I thought "Bling (Confessions Of
A King)" was their latest single?

The Killers are releasing an album of B-sides next month called "Sawdust." I think "Shadowplay" is on it.

"Read My Mind" was one of my favorite songs of the year too! "Bones" was good too.

I also have to add: I think Rihanna needs a restraining order :help:

Hey, YeahWhatever, thanks for the info!!! I'll have to check into that and as for the Newboy12/Danugh/Rhianna, nonsense, I finally learnt how to put him on "ignore." It's freakin' fantastic.
