You are just sensitive to caffiene at the dosage you took. Sure drinking coffee is one thing, taking concentrated caffiene is another. The reaction you had is typical of those who are a bit more sensitive to it. Some of the new studies suggest it could lead to a heart problem for some, but usually older folks. Still, if I were you, I wouldn't take the No-Doz any more. Lesson learned.

Now get on a wake/sleep schedule and keep it as much as possible.

So basically what your saying is you took around three times the recommended dose of a known stimulant drug and you became unusually stimulated, seriously who would have thought that might happen.

Caffeine intoxication

An acute overdose of caffeine, usually in excess of 250 milligrams (more than 2-3 cups of brewed coffee), can result in a state of central nervous system overstimulation called caffeine intoxication. The symptoms of caffeine intoxication may include restlessness, nervousness, excitement, insomnia, flushing of the face, increased urination, gastrointestinal disturbance, muscle twitching, a rambling flow of thought and speech, irregular or rapid heart beat, and psychomotor agitation.[29][32]

In cases of extreme overdose, death can result. The median lethal dose (LD50) of caffeine is 192 milligrams per kilogram in rats.[33] The LD50 of caffeine is dependent on weight and individual sensitivity and estimated to be about 150 to 200 milligrams per kilogram of body mass, roughly 140 to 180 cups of coffee for an average adult taken within a limited timeframe that is dependent on half-life. Though achieving lethal dose with caffeine would be exceptionally difficult with regular coffee, there have been reported deaths from intentional overdosing on caffeine pills.[34][35][36][37]

Treatment of severe caffeine intoxication is generally supportive, providing treatment of the immediate symptoms, but if the patient has very high serum levels of caffeine then peritoneal dialysis, hemodialysis, or hemofiltration may be required.

You took 800 mg so none of your symptoms are surprising or unexpected, i guess it just shows that they dont put dose limits on drugs just cause theyre bored.

The text from the no-doz pack as it currently stands (obviously i cant check the one in front of you)

No-Doz Plus
tablets contain 100mg of caffeine plus Vitamin B1 and Vitamin B3 in a base containing glucose.
Dosage: 1 tablet. Repeat dosage should not be taken under 3 hours. Maximum recommended daily dosage is 5 tablets.

Warnings: For occasional use only. Not intended for use as a substitute for sleep. If fatigue or drowsiness persists or continues to recur, consult a doctor. The recommended dose of this product contains about as much caffeine as a cup of coffee. Do not give to children under the age of 12 years of age. As with any drug, if you are pregnant, nursing a baby, have high blood pressure or a heart condition, seek the advice of a health professional before using this product. Keep out of the reach of children. Vitamin supplements should not replace a balanced diet.

There are also 200mg preps available.

i swear it sounds like you did some coke...u sure somebody didn't slip you some speed somewhere along the way? caffeine shouldn't do all that...

I took 4 pills total, I took them at the recommended time, every 3 hours, only thing I did wrong was take 1/2 a pill extra, so overall, I only had 1 whole pill more. in a 6 hour period.

You can justify it any way it makes you feel better i guess, but the simple fact is the packaging clearly stated that you should never consume more than 5 in a 24 hour period, and recommended 1 every three hours. You had 4 in 4 hours almost the whole daily dose in 4 hours, all of the symptoms you describe are explained by an excessive caffiene dose and polyuria from excessive water consumption or both.

I'm so excited!! And I just can't hide it!! I'm so... I'm so... so... SCARED!!!!
Yes! I'm not the only one who thought of that!

Anyway, glad to hear you're okay. :-)

I had a similar experience with both NoDoz and Vivarin when I was in college. I stopped taking them as well right after that. I had a similar episode years later with Starbucks regular coffee. My heart was pounding against my chest wall and I had a cold flush. The doctor I visited said that I could have a caffeine sensitivity. From that point on, I have been extremely strict on drinking caffeine-free products. The only caffeine I would ingest these days is the occassional Diet Coke and that has little effect on me if at all. But as far as caffeine tablets, I'll never take those again. And you'll never catch me drinking a Red Bull either!

BTW, my last physical was in Oct, and my heart is fine.

Cody, you're doing the right thing staying away from caffeine. Rest and plenty of pure water should suffice to give you the energy you need. Listen to your body when it is tired and replenish it naturally.

In college I took at least ten one night to stay awake. It was so long ago I don't even remember how many it was, seems like I took the whole bottle. It didn't do anything for me, I was asleep within an hour. I was use to drinking about a gallon of pop a day, maybe that had something to do with it.

I took a box of sominex once and felt like I was dieing. I couldn't breath and was hallucinating. I never touched that shit again. I was taking way too much, but still. I was just being stupid.
