Not an iPod

Ooh that does look nice. I'm very happy with my iPod though.

I can't use iPods 'cos they require iTunes and it doesn't run on Linux.

And this one plays Ogg Vorbis files, and is only about the size of a fifty pence piece. Two gigs of flash memory in that size.

winterknight: You do not need iTunes to use and own an iPod. Who told you that? You can rip CD's and put your own music etc., on any iPod, MAC or Windoz!

so how is it going now? Battery life?

i am thinking of picking one of these up it looks pretty sweet the same size as a shuffle with a screen and looks oh so nice sleeker than anything else i have seen

so how is it

To those of you who need to play Ogg Vorbis files, the Wizpy is coming. The Wizpy is interesting not only in that it plays Ogg, mp3, WMA, AAC, DivX, views JPEGs, and has an FM radio built in, but it also has Turbolinux built into it. When plugged into a USB port, the Wizpy will be recognized as a USB flash drive by computers. It is compatible with Windows, Mac, and Linux. No special software is required to sync the Wizpy with your computer. If your desktop or laptop is configured to boot first from a drive on the USB bus, you can plug the Wizpy into the USB port, and your computer will boot Turbolinux from the Wizpy at bootup. This potentially lets you run your e-mail, browser, chat, and other programs from any computer in the world with an internet connection, without leaving a trace of your activity on the host computer. Everything gets saved to the Wizpy itself. It also has a microphone built in, and can be used as a personal recorder. In addition to Turbolinux, bundled software includes Mozilla Firefox and Thunderbird, Skype, and ATOK.

It's supposed to become available in the states any week now (shipments from Japan allegedly began February 23). It has 4 GB flash memory and is expected to cost $250 to $280. That seems a little expensive to me, but I bet the price drops and the internal memory increases pretty quickly after it hits the streets.

Thanks for the heads-up on the iriver player, winterknight. I've been looking for a player that can handle Ogg Vorbis, and the iriver looks good!

I have a 30 gig ipod and like it a lot. I use it with the soundock at home and fm transmitter in the car. Great way to go.

There are many mp3 players around that you should find one you like. A friend of mine has a eriver 30 gig and loves it.

On a side note, what is a pence? I heard of pounds. How many pence in a pound? Just how big is the 50 pence coin? What about quid? I think of calamari when I hear someone say quid. Canadiens and Australians use dollars, why not the rest of the world!

Pence = pennies.. 100 in a pound. Pound = quid (Think "dollar" and "buck")

What is your Dangerous idea? An idea you think about (not necessarily one you originated) that is dangerous not because it is assumed to be false, but because it might be true?"
