[Not so] Gay Books

Light Fell by Evan Fallenberg

Back where he started by Jay Quinn
about a gay couple who get divorced and he has to start all over. Excellent book.

Thomas Mann- Death In Venice

I'm not a big Thomas Mann fan but this book is amazing.

Great thread!

Colm Toibin's "The Master" (2004)
Openly gay Irish writer. Award winning novel about Henry James. The novel is a fictional account of portions key moments in the life of Henry James including his sexual orientation and desires.
(The Master won the 2006 International IMPAC Dublin Literary Award, was shortlisted for the 2004 Booker Prize, won the Los Angeles Times Novel of the Year, the Stonewall Book Award and the Lambda Literary Award, and was listed by The New York Times as one of the ten most notable books of 2004)

James Baldwin's Giovanni's Room (1956)
A novel on homosexual love and homophobia among other themes. Attraction between a white American and Giovanni, an Italian man, in Paris.

I'm within the last forty pages or so of The Coming Storm, and it is brilliant! So glad I ordered it. I'm about to sign up for InsightOut LGBT book club. I get four books for a dollar (plus $11 shipping) my first purchase, and they have a great selection. Then after, I have to buy three books at book club price within two years (I believe), which won't be a problem!

If you buy a lot of books, you may want to consider joining the 10% club with Insightout books. I did and it helps a lot, especially when they have sales and the discount is also deducted from those items! ..|

I was considering that, when I read about it. Thanks!

So I was a little off, it's a dollar per book, but still is only the price of one average book at BAM (15.71) for four books of my choosing.

Anyway, here's what I purchased, and am awaiting:

Out of Sync- Lance Bass's (auto?)biography. Say what you want, but I've been wanting this, despite the disappointment I've heard about it. I mean, I got it for a buck, so I can't complain.

Changing Tides by Michael Thomas Ford

When You Don't See Me by Timothy Beck

The Sixth Form by Tom Dolby.

They didn't have much that I wanted (I should say, were well approved of in the current/recent fiction genre....not much interested in nonfiction or books dated beyond 1990, so I was limited), but I'll probably stumble across a few more, considering I'm just required to buy three more books within a two year period, it won't be too hard.

I just ordered the Sixh Form myself. Changing Tides is another one on my summer reading shelf.

Be sure to check out INsightout's website. You can sometimes find things that are no longer listed in the monthly catalogs.
