The weather sucks and we lose five minutes of daylight each day. That's more than a half hour a week. Rain, cold, dark and wind -- yuccch! I’m growing concerned because I still haven’t finished shingling my roof. I worked eight hours under the tarp in the rain on Saturday and got a lot done, but now I need to pull the damn tarp off and get some more tarpaper on. Another two days of dry weather and I should be close to DONE. The weather report says a chance of showers on Thursday and Friday, but October weather is always dicey.

I started to post about the “Official JUB Blog”, but I decided I was just being pissy and my post wasn’t worth reading. I did finally finish a post about “Gay life after 40”, but I didn’t really like what I said. I went ahead and posted it anyway. I reacted to both threads with irritation. The official blog seemed so like a gay US Magazine, and Allan Krepina’s entry about being old really depressed me. It seems like he’s resigned to being single and lonely, even though he ended with an upbeat “it’s gonna be better for you younger guys” message. It’s the question I’ve been wrestling with for a couple of years now. Is there any point to coming out of the closed when you’re 60? I try to be optimistic, but I know the chances of finding a life partner at this age are slim. The visible gay community is so focused on youth and superficial values that older gays just disappear, especially if you live in a small town. How do you look for a suitable companion? October has its claws in me. I can feel the depression setting in; it’s time to sign off.
