I have no clue what causes most of my bizarre dreams lately, but in one part of it, I was with my parents at a mall and ate a slice of cheese, that in the dream, tasted and smelled nasty, like it was old or had some chemical in it. I remember my parents conversing in my dream that it had lye or something in it, and that's all I remember.

The next thing I know, when I wake up, I can taste the same taste in my mouth as the cheese in my dream and can smell the scent of it inside my nose. It made me a bit nauseated and my nose felt like it was burning. I had to eat some yogurt and drink some juice to wash the taste-like feeling out of my mouth.

Probably didn't help that I told my mom about a story where lye-laced sweet tea was given to a woman at a restaurant that put the lady in the hospital. Somehow my subconscious made a dream involving lye or some other chemical and then I could taste and smell something in the cheese, which somehow took on a physical effect when I woke up. Is there a name for that when one can taste and/or smell what they sensed in their dreams?

I'm going to guess you had some acid reflux in your sleep and your subconscious incorporated it into a dream.

I was afraid this was going to be a thread about smegma.

Yes, imagination.

Oh yes, like I imagine you getting lost in my mind and falling into an unused part of it. :)

It's called

In short, delirium.

Isn't that what you live in every day, my dear stalker?

I'm going to guess you had some acid reflux in your sleep and your subconscious incorporated it into a dream.

Possibly, I have acid reflux a lot, but never tasted anything like chemicals.

I was afraid this was going to be a thread about smegma.

Ugh, don't put that vision in my head lol.

It's also possible that you burped a really rancid burp in your sleep and it was strong enough to hang around in your mouth like an aftertaste.

Don't eat within 3 or so hours of bed.

Never dream of food myself...

I was sure Listerine would have been mentioned by now. .......never mind, carry on.
