Official Superbowl XLIII Thread

Tommy, March makes more sense. I don't remember the move during the playoffs.

Great story. I'd never heard that. I'm going to take a stab and say the Cards were in St. Louis at the time.

BTW, are you an Eagals fan? I won't hold it against you. ;)

Yes, Cards were in STL..Otherwise no need for a team in PHX..And GO EAGLES!! (Note the green!)

ugh. It was a fantastic game. not the outcome i wanted though. Big credit is due to Kurt, Larry, Anquan and the Cards. They gave the steelers a run for their money. Wow, though. I mean the Cards should've been able to stop Santonio sometime. Who else was Ben going to throw to? I could've at least knocked the ball down on that last TD pass

Happiness! The first time i've watched an American Football game and i loved it! It makes a bit more sense than it did before! ^_^ Shame its a tad difficult to get on tv here...

I was rooting for the underdogs, so suffice it to say, I'm not entirely pleased with the outcome. Though I will say that this was a pretty sweet Superbowl. I mean Harrison and that 100-yard interception for the touchdown--I practically came watching that. And Larry Fitzgerald...I don't want to sound too dramatic, but, he's like the second coming of Jesus on the field. Give him the ball, and the man will work miracles. Loved the game tonight.

Great game...Harrison's interception right before half killed the Cardinals..They went from at worst a tie heading into halftime to being 10 down! But great comeback by the Cards! Great game! And to all the haters who pissed on this matchup - fuk off!

P.S. Sorry Rimmer the Steelers got another one for da thimb!

Yeah, it was a great one. Disppointing ending tho. You can't ask for more as far as thrills.

Tommy, I'm sure I'll catch you around!

Peace

Dude, they play maybe a game a year in your country now. Don't make it to one of those, nor do they show them on TV when they're played there?

We even sent the best passer in the league this year in Drew Brees...going up against arguably the worst secondary in the league (at the time that was a toss-up between the Saints and Chargers).

OPINIONS:

1. The Flying Polamalus became the Flying Harrisons. Polamalu's presence was felt, I'd imagine, but I didn't see him knock fire into someone's ass like he does every game. James Harrison, however, worked his ass off...though the punching of a player while he's down I definitely frown upon.

2. Depending on your perspective, this was either the best or worst officiating in ever. There were some ridiculous calls going both ways. I wasn't a fan of the roughing the passer, though the helmet to the back of Roethlisberger (can't believe I spelled that without google searching it) was probably what got the flag. I also wasn't a fan of the holding that resulted in a safety--that was a DE on a bullrush that knocked the OG over, not a hold.

3. Ben's way hotter than Kurt Warner, but winner to me was Aaron Smith (#91, LDE for Pittsburgh). Man alive is he gorgeous.

4. This was a much better and closer game than I expected. I think the Steelers went into prevent fail mode, and it almost cost them the game. It's the Super Bowl, man. You don't let up off the gas until the last two minutes. Until then, if you can score at will, you do it...none of this "we're up by 13, so we'll just play it conservative" crap.

That's about it.

I'm so very proud of the Cardinals. They got no respect at all, and I have to admit, they did win a weak division but they played out of their minds during the playoffs when NO ONE gave them a chance. They were supposed to be blown out by the Steelers and they made it close and came thisclose to winning. Great game and the Steelers definitely deserve their 6th World Championship. Congrats!

Great game despite the over-officiating (which I don't believe changed the outcome of the game). Larry Fitzgerald is flat out amazing and beautiful too. I wonder if I accidentally came out of the closet to a family friend when I said "Fitzgerald's butt is pure muscle. If you slap it you'd probably break your hand.

I am most proud of Coach Tomlin. So young but yet a brilliant coach and very professional. Wise beyond his years.

LOL...I think they know now. That and you drooling over Rodgers-Cromartie's uncupped thang visible on a certain play!

The steelers decided to play a deep cover 2 defense so polamalu wasn't up on the line of scrimmage stopping the run/blitzing the quarterback like he usually does. the gameplan was effective although fitzgerald had a 65 yard TD, everything was catch and run, they didnt get beat downfield

it was a good game

Cardinals fired their defensive coach. Their defense sucked during the regular season, but came on during the playoffs. I think its a raw deal.

It was definitely unexpected over here. We all knew Haley was leaving, but Pendergast gettin the boot was a shocker. Mabe a new coordinator will do better with the defensive schemes.
