I'll just pick a random one - Dog City. For a kid's show, the premise was pretty damn complicated. It involved a rather geeky guy named Eliot. His job was writing and animating a cartoon called Ace Hart. Ace Hart was a private eye, and was clearly Eliot's alter-ego - confident where Eliot was shy, a hit with the ladies, all that. In the midst of writing/animating each show, Eliot would interact with Ace. He'd talk to him about his current "real-life" problems, and work folks from his real life into the cartooon under various aliases.

...did I mention Eliot and his "real-life" compatriots were muppets?
