Hey everyone,
I'm new here, turned 18 a few months ago and just found this site. I'm just wondering if it's common for a guy my age to have a crush, or I think it's a crush, on a guy who's, say, 43??? He teaches classes at my gym and I know he's gay and he's very attractive, not just physically. Just lookin' for some thoughts on the situation. We usually talk after class, so we're friendly, but I don't know if the age thing is a big problem, especially because I'm still at home, but out. :confused:
 
I would say you can have a crush on anyone so if you have a crush on a 43 year old then he is one lucky person...one of my best friends is 22 years my junior and in the early days everyone though we were a couple and it did not bother my friend one bit...so it all depends on the individual.

Yup. You can have a crush on a much older guy. (My BF says, he has been suffering from this condition for 6 years now.) And, yeah, you can have a crush on virtually anyone.

The issue at hand, is to consider the consequences, if any, of putting any of your fantasy into reality.

So, crush is fine. Anything else deserves a major consideration on your part.

yea dude Im 19 and Im the same way I love older men, I liked a few teachers and what not. All I can say is there's nothing wrong with it so dont worry.
 
another thing I for got to mension sorry, just like the guy said above me think about the consequences and I have hooked up with a 45 year old dude so I mean it just all depends.

There's no one set standard of guys that we find attractive. Some go for the muscular types, others have a thing for the big hairy guys, and so on. I mean, think about it - if it were only the stereotypical hot gay guys who were found attractive, they'd be the only ones getting any. :) Crushing on an older guy, even one that isn't stereotypically "attractive", is both normal and totally cool.

As far as what to do about it? That's a bit trickier without knowing more.

The crush is ok, but acting on it is _not_ if you respect the guy and his teacher position. He could be fired if anything, um, "untoward," happened while you were still a student.

I'll be friends with students after they graduate if they initiate that, but would never EVER have a sexual relationship. It's not long until you graduate, then, if you feel like a friendship, look him up -- but don't be surprised if he freaks!
