One of the biggest benefits of the active gym lifestyle is you heal a lot faster than normal and your body is a lot more resilient.I gotta ask, since I've never stepped a foot into a gym...are you the elder of your gym? Like is it common for those in their 40's and 50's to spend time (or a lot of time) in a gym? I'm not being a smartass, I don't know the answer.
I'm retired and have no plans to go to a gym unless it is to walk thru one in a hotel. I never was in really good shape and strong. But the last 10 years or so I can sure tell I've lost "normal" muscle. My Dad is still alive and some days he struggles to open a cap of soda bottle.
I definitely notice how much faster my injuries heal versus back when I was living a non-active lifestyle. One time I slipped and fell down a whole flight of stairs. Wooden steps. It hurt like hell but nothing broke and only a couple bruises that healed in a couple days or so. I've fallen off a tree before also.
By packing on all the muscles over the years, it's the same as armoring up my body. It also meant my body metabolism is also boosted which helps me heal my injuries a lot faster than normal.
These benefits don't really show themselves well until something happens.
